       Objective: This bibliographic analysis was designed to review all dental publications in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and evaluate the effect of international collaboration on the impact of published articles.
    Methods: The Web of Science (WOS) database was used to extract all related published articles in the KSA from 1982 to 2021. The keywords were connected using Boolean Operators to download related articles. Downloaded articles were screened according to the following inclusion criteria: collaboration journal category, journal discipline, number of citations, number of authors, and impact factor. After applying the inclusion criteria and excluding single-author articles, 5,689 documents were included in the final analysis. The chi-square test and two-independent samples t-test were used to determine the statistical significance between the variables.
    Results: A significantly higher proportion of articles with international collaboration (51.4%) were published in dental journals than those published nationally (43.3%) or within the institutional level (41.8%) (P < 0.0001). In addition, the average number of citations (9.28 ± 23.8) ranged from 0 to 749, received by an article and the impact factor of the journal in which the article was published, significantly higher in the case of internationally collaborative work compared with national or within institutional collaboration (P < 0.0001).
    Conclusion: International collaboration positively affected the impact factor, number of citations, and quartile rank of published articles. Moreover, the number of co-authors in different countries contributes to the international collaboration effect.

       Background: This study aims to map the research trends in the field of stem cell research in Iran by presenting a systematic and analytical bibliometrics approach based on data from the Web of Science database.
    Methods: In this study, we provide a visualization overview of the distribution of stem cell publications in Iran. The HistCite software was used to draw and analyze the historiographical maps, based on Global Citation Score (GSC) and Local Citation Score (LCS) in order to indicate the most frequent thematic trends. The accuracy of clustering and classification of scientific fields is enhanced by the incorporation of algorithms and main bibliometric analysis.
    Results: A total of 5123 records were collected from the Web of Science database in 2020. The most prolific author had a GCS of 5890 and the most productive university earned GCS of 13677. "Cell Journal," with 186 records contributed the highest number of publications. The highest cited document based on GSC had a score of 646 and the highest cited article based on LCS had a score of 71. We documented regular growth in outputs. In addition, the scientific maps based on LCS and GCS have been drawn. The prominent, distinguished areas of study revolve around differentiation, generation, proliferation, and the therapeutic use of stem cells as well as "genotoxicity in stem cells", "mesenchymal stem cells" and "embryonic stem cells". Journal articles were the predominant document type.
    Conclusion: Research on stem cells is a biomedical venture with great scientific impact, and its development in Iran is undeniable. This study provides an overview and a framework for the weaknesses and strengths of Iranian research outputs on stem cells, representing the main clusters in scientific maps. We hope that our results help researchers to plan future studies and promote their research productions.

       Purpose: The orthopaedic surgeons, especially the young budding surgeons should have a well-balanced knowledge of the past evidence as well the current evidence in the literature for the appropriate as well as optimum management of tibial plateau fractures. Bibliometric analysis of the top-cited papers on tibial plateau fracture management can help know their concurrent interests, deficiencies and conflicting issues regarding their management. This study aimed to identify the 50 most cited research articles in tibial plateau research and analyse their characteristics.
    Methods: We searched the Thompson Reuters Web of Science database for articles relevant to tibial plateau fracture and prepared a list of top 50 cited articles that included original articles and review articles concerning tibial plateau fractures. The included articles were analysed for contributing journals, corresponding author's country, publication year, cumulative citations, annual citations, citation trends over time, level of evidence and a qualitative review.
    Results: The search strategy resulted in 2263 articles. The top 50 cited articles were published from 1974 to 2014 and belonged to 12 journal sources. There were 47 original articles and 3 review articles. The average citations per article were 126.2, and the annual citations per article were 6.478 per year. The top-cited articles were relevant to the strategies in the management, classification, fracture reduction, articular restoration, types and number of fixation devices, surgical approaches, associated menisco-ligamentous injuries and applicability of bone grafts/substitutes in tibial plateau fractures.
    Conclusion: The current bibliometric analysis summarises the top-cited evidence concerning tibial plateau fractures and can be a potential resource for reviewing and locating the same. The analysis shows that most top-cited evidence belongs to the year 2000 onwards. Also, recent articles have a higher annual citation rate. A limited number of journals and mostly, western countries have contributed to the top-cited evidence. Whilst the top-cited evidence has touched several aspects of tibial plateau fractures, it is in the form of level IV case series. It needs better prospective evidence to establish sound recommendations.

       Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a painful and complex joint disease. The unique mechanisms and potential interventions of OA-induced pain have attracted researchers' attention in recent years. Bibliometric and visualization analysis is a comprehensive scientific method that integrates mathematical and statistical approaches to explore research priorities in a specific field. However, there are few studies on OA pain using bibliometric analysis.
    Purpose: This study aimed to explore research trends and hotspots in OA pain research field, offer practical guidance to researchers looking for top-notch scholars/institutions/countries, and provide suggestions for journal submissions by analyzing the existing literature.
    Methods: Raw data were extracted from Web of Science Core Collection. Microsoft Excel, the R package "bibliometrix", VOSviewer and CiteSpace software were used to analyze data and visualize relevant results.
    Results: A total of 2493 articles were included for further bibliometric and visualization analysis. During the investigated period, 2021 with 343 publications was the most productive year. Fillingim, Roger B. and Bennell, Kim L. with 32 articles were the most productive authors. Most publications were from the USA (797 articles, 20,727 citations). Rehabilitation and treatment of OA pain were the hotspots in OA pain research area. The top-contributing journal was Osteoarthritis and Cartilage. Boston University (91 articles; 4050 citations) was the most active institution.
    Conclusion: The total publications of OA pain generally increasing over the time in the last decade, and the escalating rate remained a high level. This is the first comprehensive bibliometric study in OA pain research field, and it will offer practical guidance to researchers in this field.

       Background: There have been several papers published about pemphigus. Bibliometric analysis is useful in determining the most significant research in a certain topic. By bibliometric research, we were able to determine the 100 most frequently reference articles in pemphigus.
    Aims and Objective: Using bibliometric tools to find and evaluate the top 100 most reference papers in pemphigus.
    Materials and Methods: On 19 February 2023, the Web of Science database was utilized to launch a title-specific search. Publications were listed in degrading order on the basis of their total citations. We examined the top 100 most reference pemphigus publications.
    Results: The years of publication varied from 1971 to 2020, with the 1990s being the most active. According to diverse study objectives, the 100 publications were separated into clinical aspects and diagnosis (20%), pathophysiology (52%), therapy (13%), epidemiology (8%), related disorders (1%) and others (6%). The 100 papers were published in 37 different publications. The top 100 reference articles included 54 first authors of 11 nations, most of whom came from North America and Europe. Stanley, J R, from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, was the principal author.
    Conclusions: A thorough bibliometric research of the top 100 publications in pemphigus was provided by the research, which may be useful for future research.

       BACKGROUND: Gastric cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. In recent years, an increasing number of studies aimed at designing and developing nanomaterials for use in diagnosing and treating gastric cancer have been conducted. In this study, we aimed to comprehensively assess the current status and trends of the research on the application of nanomaterials in gastric cancer through a bibliometric analysis.
    METHODS: Studies focusing on nanomaterials and gastric cancer were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database and relevant articles were selected for inclusion in the study according to the inclusion criteria. Bibliometric and visual analysis of the included publications was performed using VOSviewer and CiteSpace.
    RESULTS: A total of 793 studies were included. An increase in annual publications was observed from 2004 to 2023. China, Iran and the USA were the dominant countries in this field, accounting for 66.1%, 11.5% and 7.2% of publications, respectively. Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Cui DX were the most influential institution and author, respectively. The International Journal of Nanomedicine was the most prolific journal; Biomaterials was the most cited and most cocited journal. Nanomaterial-related drug delivery and anticancer mechanisms were found to be the most widely researched aspects, and green synthesis and anticancer mechanisms are recent research hotspots.
    CONCLUSION: In this study, we summarized the characteristics of publications and identified the most influential countries, institutions, authors, journals, hot topics and trends regarding the application of nanomaterials in gastric cancer.

      Background: This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the literature on stem cell therapy for spinal cord injury to visualize the research status, identify hotspots, and explore the development trends in this field. Methods: We searched the Web of Science Core Collection database using relevant keywords ("stem cells" and "spinal cord injury") and retrieved the published literature between 2000 and 2022. Data such as journal title, author information, institutional affiliation, country, and keywords were extracted. Afterwards, we performed bibliometric analysis of the retrieved data using Bibliometrix, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace. Results: A total of 5375 articles related to stem cell therapy for spinal cord injury were retrieved, and both the annual publication volume and the cumulative publication volume showed an upward trend. neural regeneration research was the journal with the most publications and the fastest cumulative publication growth (162 articles), Okano Hideyuki was the author with the highest number of publications and citations (114 articles), Sun Yat-sen University was the institution with the highest number of publications (420 articles), and China was the country with the highest number of publications (5357 articles). However, different authors, institutions, and countries need to enhance their cooperation in order to promote the generation of significant academic achievements. Current research in this field has focused on stem cell transplantation, neural regeneration, motor function recovery, exosomes, and tissue engineering. Meanwhile, future research directions are primarily concerned with the molecular mechanisms, safety, clinical trials, exosomes, scaffolds, hydrogels, and inflammatory responses of stem cell therapy for spinal cord injuries. Conclusion: In summary, this study provided a comprehensive analysis of the current research status and frontiers of stem cell therapy for spinal cord injury. The findings provide a foundation for future research and clinical translation efforts of stem cell therapy in this field.

       Background: The topic of minimal residual disease (MRD) has emerged as a crucial subject matter in the domain of oncology in recent years. The detection and monitoring of MRD have become essential for the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of various types of malignancy.
    Aims: The purpose of this study is to explore the research trends, hotspots, and frontiers of MRD in the last two decades through bibliometric analysis.
    Methods: We employed Web of Science databases to carry out a bibliometric visualization analysis of research on 8,913 academic papers about MRD research from 2002 to 2022. VOSviewer, CiteSpace, RStudio, and a bibliometric online analysis platform were mainly used to conduct co-occurrence analysis and cooperative relationship analysis of countries/regions, institutions, journals, and authors in the literature. Furthermore, co-occurrence, co-citation, and burst analyses of keyword and reference were also conducted to generate relevant knowledge maps.
    Results: In the past 20 years, the number of MRD research papers has presented an overall rising trend, going through three stages: a plateau, development, and an explosion. The output of articles in the United States was notably superior and plays a dominant role in this field, and the Netherlands had the highest average citation per article. The most productive and influential institution was the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Blood published the most papers and was the most cited journal. A collection of leading academics has come to the fore in the research field, the most prolific of which is Kantarjian HM. It was found that the application of MRD in "acute myeloid leukemia", "acute lymphoblastic leukemia", "multiple myeloma", as well as the detection technology of MRD, are the research hotspots and frontiers in this domain. Furthermore, we analyzed the co-citation network of references and found that the top 10 co-cited references were all associated with MRD in hematological malignancies.
    Conclusion: This bibliometric visualization analysis conducted a thorough exploration into the research hotspots and trends in MRD from 2002 to 2022. Our findings can aid researchers in recognizing possible collaborations, guiding future research directions, and fostering the growth of MRD detection and monitoring technologies.

       PURPOSE: To examine a series of papers from top ranked orthopaedic journals with respect to the number of citations over a 10-year observation period to identify factors that lead to high citation rates.
    METHODS: The Web of Science database was consulted to identify all published papers from the first-year term of 2010 (January-May) from four top orthopaedic journals: AJSM, Arthroscopy, JBJS Am and KSSTA. The database was used to analyze and compare the papers with respect to their characteristics and citations up to 2019. Basic information for each paper was collected including the author, country, study type and average citations per year (ACY). The most (Top20%) and least (Bottom20%) frequently cited papers were identified and differences were extracted.
    RESULTS: Five hundred sixteen papers were included with a total of 19,261 citations. Most of the published papers were from the United States (n = 245). On average, a paper received 37.3 citations over the 10-year observation period. The most cited paper was cited 322 times. The most cited study type was randomized controlled trial (RCT) (Ø80.8). The Top20% papers were cited 37 times more often than the Bottom20%. Among the Top20%, the largest group was cohort study (n = 20) followed by case series (n = 19). Among others, the number of authors, the number of keywords and the number of references significantly correlated with the number of citations (p < 0.001).
    CONCLUSIONS: Factors influencing citation frequency were identified.

       Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) is widely applied in cancer field nowadays. The aim of this study is to explore the hotspots and trends of AI in cancer research.
    Methods: The retrieval term includes four topic words ("tumor," "cancer," "carcinoma," and "artificial intelligence"), which were searched in the database of Web of Science from January 1983 to December 2022. Then, we documented and processed all data, including the country, continent, Journal Impact Factor, and so on using the bibliometric software.
    Results: A total of 6,920 papers were collected and analyzed. We presented the annual publications and citations, most productive countries/regions, most influential scholars, the collaborations of journals and institutions, and research focus and hotspots in AI-based cancer research.
    Conclusion: This study systematically summarizes the current research overview of AI in cancer research so as to lay the foundation for future research.

      Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) are demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system, have drawn the attention of many researchers due to the relapsing courses and cumulative disability. A first bibliometric analysis of NMOSD was conducted to identify the research hotspots and emerging trends. Articles relevant to NMOSD published in the core collection of Web of Science were retrieved and analyzed through visualized analysis using CiteSpace and VOSviewer, focusing on annual publication trends, countries, institutions, authors, journals, and keywords. The analysis showed that over the past 30 years, publications related to NMOSD had shown steady growth with slight fluctuations. The United States played an important part in this field, with the highest outputs and the greatest number of citations. Research hotspots of NMOSD had gradually shifted from the definition, biomarkers, and diagnostic criteria to diagnosis and treatment, particularly immunotherapy. This bibliometric analysis provides researchers with a theoretical basis for studying NMOSD and offers guidance for future research directions.

      Objective: In this study, we utilized bibliometric methods to assess the worldwide scientific output and identify hotspots related to the research on the volume-regulated anion channel (VRAC) from 2014 to 2022. Methods: From Web of Science, we obtained studies related to VRAC published from 2014 to 2022. To analyzed the data, we utilized VOSviewer, a tool for visualizing network, to create networks based on the collaboration between countries, institutions, and authors. Additionally, we performed an analysis of journal co-citation, document citation, and co-occurrence of keywords. Furthermore, we employed CiteSpace (6.1. R6 Advanced) to analyzed keywords and co-cited references with the strongest burst. Results: The final analysis included a total of 278 related articles and reviews, covering the period from 2014 to 2022. The United States emerged as the leading country contributing to this field, while the University of Copenhagen stood out as the most prominent institution. The author with most publications and most citations was Thomas J. Jentsch. Among the cited references, the article by Voss et al. published in Science (2014) gained significant attention for its identification of LRRC8 heteromers as a crucial component of the volume-regulated anion channel VRAC. Pflügers Archiv European Journal of Physiology and Journal of Physiology-London were the leading journals in terms of the quantity of associated articles and citations. Through the analysis of keyword co-occurrence, it was discovered that VRAC is involved in various physiological processes including cell growth, migration, apoptosis, swelling, and myogenesis, as well as anion and organic osmolyte transport including chloride, taurine, glutamate and ATP. VRAC is also associated with related ion channels such as TMEM16A, TMEM16F, pannexin, and CFTR, and associated with various diseases including epilepsy, leukodystrophy, atherosclerosis, hypertension, cerebral edema, stroke, and different types of cancer including gastric cancer, glioblastoma and hepatocellular carcinoma. Furthermore, VRAC is involved in anti-tumor drug resistance by regulating the uptake of platinum-based drugs and temozolomide. Additionally, VRAC has been studied in the context of pharmacology involving DCPIB and flavonoids. Conclusion: The aim of this bibliometric analysis is to provide an overall perspective for research on VRAC. VRAC has become a topic of increasing interest, and our analysis shows that it continues to be a prominent area. This study offers insights into the investigation of VRAC channel and may guide researchers in identifying new directions for future research.

      Aromatherapy is a natural treatment method that uses essential oils (EOs) extracted from aromatic plants; EOs and their components exhibit a wide range of pharmacological activities, with a special focus on their implementation toward mental disorders, such as anxiety and depression. This study aimed to identify the scientific output and activity related to aromatherapy in anxiety, depression, and insomnia through bibliometric approaches. In this bibliometric study, we utilized CiteSpace and VOSviewer to evaluate the Web of Science Core Collection publications and to build visualizing maps to analyze the research progress on this topic between 2001 and 2021. A total of 1159 original and review articles in English, published in 578 different peer-reviewed journals by 260 authors, were identified. In the recent two decades, there was a steady increase in the number of published articles, especially in the following five years. All publications were distributed among 88 countries/regions. The United States had the most publications, with 188 (16.22%) articles, followed by China [131 (11.30%)], Brazil [110 (9.49%)], and Japan [85 (7.33%)]. Most studies were published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, and Physiology & Behavior was the most cited journal. Hritcu L was the top published scientist and Gupta SC was the most frequently co-cited. The knowledge base of this field research mainly included the related efficacy of aromatherapy/EOs, application status, and biochemical mechanism. And the keyword co-occurrence analysis revealed that the topics "oxidative stress," "chemical composition," "systematic review," and "sleep quality" were research frontiers. In conclusion, this comprehensive bibliometric study provides an updated perspective on research hotspots of aromatherapy in anxiety or depression and developmental tendencies of natural remedies for mental health. In addition, this study could also provide valuable information for research teams, practitioners, and decision-makers when designing and implementing natural treatment methods for mental health-promoting interventions for individuals with mood disorders.

      As an emerging trend, non-pharmacological behavior management has gained immense research interest. By utilizing a bibliometric approach, this investigation aims to review the state of the non-pharmacological behavior management techniques research in pediatric dentistry. A Scopus search was done on non-pharmacological behavior management in pediatric dentistry, including literature from 1900 to 2022, using "Cited Reference Search" on 4/2/2022. After being screened, the articles were ranked according to the number of citations they had, and the publication year, authorship, contributing institutions, countries, article topic, study design, H index, and keywords were extracted. Out of the 1431 articles found during the literature search, the top 50 cited articles were used for analysis. The citation counts of the 50 selected articles varied from 163 to one, and their highest publications were in the years 2017 and 2019 (n = 7). Most studies were published in the United Kingdom (n = 10). The studies done in Australia and USA have the highest mean citation with the most significant contributions from the Department of Dental Medicine, Children's Hospital, Regional Medical Center, USA. The systematic review was the most frequent study design (n = 19). Among 110 unique keywords, dental anxiety (n = 11) was the most frequently used. This bibliometric analysis offers valuable details on the top 50 publications cited between 2006 and 2022. Although these methods have been employed for many years, only recently have they been the subject of significant scientific publications. It is hoped that this study will enable aspiring and seasoned researchers to envision and create potential future scenarios for interdisciplinary research collaborations on the use of non-pharmacological behavior management techniques in pediatric dentistry.

      The relationship between cancer and microorganisms has been extensively studied, with bacteria receiving more attention than fungi. However, fungi have been shown to play a significant role in cancer development and progression. Understanding the underlying mechanisms is crucial for identifying new avenues in prevention and treatment. To evaluate the current state of research on fungi and cancer, we conducted a comprehensive bibliometric analysis. Using the Web of Science Core Collection database, we searched for English-language articles published between 1998 and 2022. Analyzing the resulting publication data, we identified trends, patterns, and research gaps. Our analysis encompassed co-authorship networks, citation analysis, and keyword co-occurrence analysis. With 8283 publications identified, averaging 331.32 publications per year, our findings highlight China, the United States, India, Japan, and Germany as the top contributing countries. The Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sun Yat-Sen University, and University of São Paulo emerged as the most productive institutions. Key themes in the literature included "cancer," "cytotoxicity," "apoptosis," "metabolites," and "fungus." Recent trends indicate increased interest in keywords such as "green synthesis," "molecular docking," "anticancer activity," "antibacterial," "anticancer," and "silver nanoparticles." Our study provides a comprehensive assessment of the current research landscape in the field of fungi and cancer, offering insights into collaborative networks, research directions, and emerging hotspots. The growing publication rate demonstrates the rising interest in the topic, while identifying leading countries, institutions, and research themes serves as a valuable resource for researchers, policymakers, and funders interested in supporting investigations on fungi-derived compounds as potential anti-cancer agents.

       BACKGROUND: Parkinson's disease (PD), the most prevalent motoric neurodegenerative disease, has been intensively studied to better comprehend its complicated pathogenesis. Chronic neuroinflammation is a major factor contributing to the development of PD. Reportedly, high-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) protein is capable of mediating neuroinflammatory response. In this regard, knowledge mapping of the research linking HMGB1 to PD is necessary.
    OBJECTIVE: Herein, we perform a dynamic and longitudinal bibliometric analysis to explore the hotspots and current trends of HMGB1-related PD publications during the past decade.
    METHODS: All PD publications focusing on HMGB1 protein were retrieved from the PubMed database using the search terms "Parkinson's disease" and "hmgb1". Using filters, only English articles published between 2011 and 2022 were selected. The Bibliometrix and Biblioshiny packages from R software were used to conduct the bibliometric analysis.
    RESULTS: The filtered search identified 47 articles (34 original articles and 13 review articles), published between 2011 and 2022. There was an increase trend in the number of articles published, with an annual growth rate of 19.35 percent. In terms of research and scientific collaboration in this field, the United States is in the lead, followed by China, Malaysia, and Australia. Compared to other countries, the United States and China had the highest level of collaboration in this research area. Neuroinflammation, microglia, and receptor for advanced glycation end-products (RAGE) represent the top three frontiers and hotspots for HMGB1-related PD research. According to the thematic evolution analysis, over the last decade, PD, HMGB1 and microglia were addressed individually, however, since 2017, these topics were frequently discussed within the same cluster: neuroinflammation. Furthermore, PD, HMGB1, and neuroinflammation domains co-occurred in majority of the research discussion.
    CONCLUSIONS: The link between HMGB1 and PD was realized a decade ago and becomes increasingly important over time. Our findings can aid scholars in comprehending the global context of HMGB1/PD relationship and provide significant insights for future PD research.

       Background: Mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (MSC-exosomes) have been found to effectively improve the systemic inflammatory response caused by acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ALI/ARDS), regulate systemic immune disorders, and help injured cells repair. The purpose of this study was to take a holistic view of the current status and trends of MSC-exosomes research in ALI/ARDS.
    Methods: Bibliometrix, Citespace and VOSviewer software were used for bibliometric analysis of the data. We analysed the world trends, country distribution, institution contribution, most relevant journals and authors, research hotspots, and research hotspots related to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) based on the data collected.
    Results: China possessed the largest number of publications, while the USA had the highest H-index and the number of citations. Both China and the USA had a high influence in this research field. The largest number of publications in the field of MSC-exosomes and ALI/ARDS were mainly from the University of California system. Stem Cell Research & Therapy published the largest number of papers in this scope. The author with the greatest contribution was LEE JW, and ZHU YG published an article in Stem Cell with the highest local citation score. The most frequent keyword and the latest research hotspot were "NF-κB" and "Coronavirus Disease 2019". Furthermore, our bibliometric analysis results demonstrated that MSC-exosomes intervention and treatment can effectively alleviate the inflammatory response caused by ALI/ARDS.
    Conclusion: Our bibliometric study suggested the USA and China have a strong influence in this field. COVID-19-induced ALI/ARDS had become a hot topic of research.

      Adipose-derived stem cell-conditioned medium (ADSC-CM) has been widely studied and used as a stem cell-based cell-free therapy. Due to the explosion of scientific publications in this field, it's difficult to review all relevant publications systematically, not mention quantitively. In this study, we combined bibliometrics with the conventional review method to summarize, analyze and visualize the characteristics of nearly all published articles related to ADSC-CM using Citespace-¬a bibliometrics software. We applied this software to quantitively and vividly show: (a) annual publications and citations; (b) distributions and co-occurrence networks of countries/regions, authors, journals, and institutions; (c) keyword co-occurrence networks and clusters in different time periods; (d) co-citation networks of references; (e) ongoing challenges and new topics in ADSC-CM. Altogether, We found ADSC-CM is at a hot stage with an increasing number of publications and citations, extensive and close scientific collaborations, and dense co-cited networks.

       BACKGROUND: In recent years, HIV infection in students has been an ongoing concern worldwide. A large number of articles have been published; however, statistical analysis of the data presented in these publications is lacking.
    OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to detect and analyze emerging trends and collaborative networks in research on HIV/AIDS among students.
    METHODS: Research publications on HIV/AIDS among students from 1985 to 2022 were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection. A topic search was used for this study, and articles in English were included. CiteSpace was used to generate visual networks of countries/regions, institutions, references, and keywords. Citation analysis was used to discover milestones in the field and trace the roots of the knowledge base. Keyword analysis was used to detect research hotspots and predict future trends.
    RESULTS: A total of 2726 publications met the inclusion criteria. Over the past 38 years, the number of publications annually has been on the rise overall. The United States had the highest number of publications (n=1303) and the highest centrality (0.91). The University of California system was the core institution. The main target population of studies on HIV/AIDS among students were medical and university students. These studies focused on students' knowledge, attitudes, risk behaviors, and education about HIV/AIDS. The recent bursting keywords (gay, sexual health, adherence, barriers, mental health, HIV testing, stigma, and antiretroviral therapy) revealed research trends and public interest on this topic.
    CONCLUSIONS: This study identified countries/regions and institutions contributing to the research area of HIV/AIDS among students and revealed research hotspots and emerging trends. The field of research on HIV/AIDS among students was growing rapidly. The United States was at the center, and the University of California system was the core institution. However, academic collaboration should be strengthened. Future research may focus on exploring gay students, sexual health, adherence, barriers, mental health, HIV testing, stigma, and antiretroviral therapy.

       Background: Gene therapy is a treatment approach at the genetic level, which brings great advances in many diseases and develops rapidly in recent years. Currently, its mechanism of action is mainly through the replacement of missing or defective genes, or the reduction of harmful gene products. However, the application of gene therapy in ophthalmology remains limited.
    Methods: A total of 1143 articles and reviews published in the field of ocular gene therapies were found in the Web of Science Core Collection database and used for the bibliometric analysis. CiteSpace was mainly applied to the network analysis of countries, institutions, keywords, and dual-map overlay of journals. The visual analysis of authors, journals, and references was used by VOSviewer. The geographical distribution of publications was conducted by R language.
    Results: The annual publications are increasing in general. Currently, the USA and the UK are two main sources of publications in this field. Switzerland, Denmark, and Finland are the top 3 countries that establish the most cooperation and exchanges with other countries or regions. The most cited and co-cited journal in this field is Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science. Gene therapy studies for eye diseases are mainly focused on retinal dysfunctions by the analysis of references, keywords, and counting of original research, including Leber's congenital amaurosis and retinitis pigmentosa.
    Conclusion: This study used bibliometrics to analyze overall characteristics and put forward prospects for the future in the field of gene therapy in ophthalmology. Ocular diseases, especially hereditary retinal diseases, will be the major focus of gene therapy in the future.

      The COVID-19 epidemic has proved a nightmare for human beings living all across the globe. It has severely affected all segments of human life. Consequently, enormous research has been conducted to assess and counter this global pandemic. This study reports finding of a bibliometric analysis on COVID-19 related literature published in the Library and Information Science journals, to identify current research trends and to suggest future directions for further research. It reveals a substantial increase in LIS publications on COVID-19 in the year 2020. The findings of the study are presented in two sections: first, the research productivity analysis provides an overview of the prominent authors, sources, institutions, and countries that published about COVID-19 in the LIS field. The second section offers a co-word thematic analysis of the significant emerging themes that provide an insight into current challenges faced by libraries and suggest future trends for research and practice in post-COVID era. The study exposes 5 major research themes and 11 sub-themes.

       Background: Interest in the application of deep learning (DL) in critical care medicine (CCM) is growing rapidly. However, comprehensive bibliometric research that analyze and measure the global literature is still lacking.
    Objective: The present study aimed to systematically evaluate the research hotspots and trends of DL in CCM worldwide based on the output of publications, cooperative relationships of research, citations, and the co-occurrence of keywords.
    Methods: A total of 1708 articles in all were obtained from Web of Science. Bibliometric analysis was performed by Bibliometrix package in R software (4.2.2), Microsoft Excel 2019, VOSviewer (1.6.18), and CiteSpace (5.8.R3).
    Results: The annual publications increased steeply in the past five years, accounting for 95.67% (1634/1708) of all the included literature. China and USA contributed to approximately 71.66% (1244/1708) of all publications. Seven of the top ten most productive organizations rank in the top 100 universities globally. Hot spots in research on the application of DL in CCM have focused on classifying disease phenotypes, predicting early signs of clinical deterioration, and forecasting disease progression, prognosis, and death. Convolutional neural networks, long and short-term memory networks, recurrent neural networks, transformer models, and attention mechanisms were all commonly used DL technologies.
    Conclusion: Hot spots in research on the application of DL in CCM have focused on classifying disease phenotypes, predicting early signs of clinical deterioration, and forecasting disease progression, prognosis, and death. Extensive collaborative research to improve the maturity and robustness of the model remains necessary to make DL-based model applications sufficiently compelling for conventional CCM practice.

       Background: Fascial pathological pain is the main type of chronic pain in older adults today, and studying the relationship between fascia and pain can help in the clinical search for effective treatments. However, in the face of the vast amount of research findings, there is no systematic assessment of the relationship between fascia and pain in a bibliometric analysis. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze studies on fascia and pain using CiteSpace and VOSviewer to identify research hotspots and future directions.
    Materials and Methods: A total of 744 papers related to fascia and pain from 2013 to 2022 were collected from the core collection database of Web of Science, and the authors, countries, institutions, keyword co-occurrence, keyword clustering, and keyword emergence were analyzed by CiteSpace and VOSviewer to construct a knowledge map.
    Results: Literature publication has shown an overall upward trend over the past decade, but there have been some fluctuations. Carmelo Pirri, Caterina Fede, and Raffaele De Caro are the top three authors with the most articles. The United States, China, and Spain are major contributors to fascial and pain research. The University of Padua, Universidad Complutense and Harvard Medical School are leading institutions in this field. However, it is noteworthy that the collaboration between authors, countries and institutions is not active. Keyword analysis showed that hot spots and trends in research on fascia and pain focused on hot diseases, major interventions, and mechanism exploration.
    Conclusion: This analysis identifies the most influential authors, institutions, and countries in the field of fascial and pain research and provides a reference for assessing their academic impact. The analysis of keywords and co-cited literature is useful for analyzing research hotspots and their evolution, as well as for predicting future trends.

       BACKGROUND: This study aims to critically review, quantify, and assess research outcomes on brain-based learning with an evidence-based study on Scopus indexed literature, with a focus to understand the evolution structure and growth, detect trends, subject development, and most importantly, identify the gaps in the published body of literature that relates brain-based learning to design and visual arts education.
    METHODS: Various scientometric tools were used to map, visualize, and analyze 186 research publications, indexed in Scopus in a twenty-year timespan '2001-2021'. Annual publication trends, relevant sources, prolific authors, authorship patterns, productive organizations and countries, funding agencies, keyword co-occurrence analysis, and thematic evolution mapping on brain-based learning publications were examined in this study.
    RESULTS: Despite the significance to apply brain-based learning strategies in design and visual arts education to boost students' knowledge and creative skills, the findings show a decline in quantities and growth patterns in brain-based learning research directed towards design disciplines in the past twenty years. Among the identified (186) documents published in (128) sources, with (1013) citations, the study detected only (57) research (30%) that were related to 'design education,' including those focusing on 'instructional design, 'and 'syllabus design' whereas only (3) articles were in 'design and visual arts' disciplines.
    CONCLUSION: These rather small numbers reflect the big gap in the current body of literature that associates brain-based learning with creativity-based disciplines, specifically in design and visual arts education. This infers the necessity to direct the attention of academics, researchers, and educationalists in the fields of design and arts towards brain-based learning applications, research and pedagogy.

       INTRODUCTION: The objective of this bibliometric analysis was to investigate the citation pattern of studies that have developed a diagnostic tool to diagnose appendicitis.
    METHODS: We investigated characteristics of citations, publication frequency, evolution of citations, and fluctuation of previously highly cited studies. We analyzed which studies had been cited in the method section and identified impactful studies in this research field by a network visualization. We analyzed the differences in citations between diagnostic tools requiring a doctor to be present against the diagnostic tools not requiring doctors to be present, English language studies against non-English studies, and identified diagnostic tools targeting children.
    RESULTS: There was an upward trend in publications in this research field, and between 1999-2021 the Alvarado score has been cited the most. In general, there was a high fluctuation, and 40 studies had been cited in the methods sections. There were significant differences in studies regarding diagnostic tools written in English compared to non-English studies, with more citations in the English-language studies. Furthermore, 22 studies had children as the target population.
    CONCLUSIONS: The Alvarado score was the highest cited study since 1999, with 1086 citations, making it the most impactful study in this research field of diagnostic tools to diagnose appendicitis. Due to the diversity of target populations and settings for which diagnostic tools are developed, there is a need to expand research on diagnostic tools for appendicitis.

       Background: Maternal separation (MS) is an early life stress model that is often studied to determine how early life stress affects brain development and psychopathological adaptation. As society has developed, public health problems have become increasingly prominent, and this research area has attracted significant attention. However, to date, there has been no systematic bibliometric study on MS. The aim of this study was to analyze the trends and frontiers in MS using bibliometrics and provide a scientific reference to researchers in the field.
    Methods: Utilizing VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Microsoft Excel, examined data obtained from the WoSCC, which encompasses the years 2002-2021.
    Results: In this bibliometric study, we analyzed 6209 articles related to MS authored by 24,174 researchers across 121 countries and regions and published in 2219 journals. The United States had the most publications (2,232, 35.95%) and both the United States and the United Kingdom had the highest h-index. Institutions in the United States and France had the most published articles and citations. Keyword clustering analysis revealed associations between MS and adverse early life experiences, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, stress, gene expression, and depression.
    Conclusions: This bibliometric analysis highlights the current research focus on the long-term effects of MS on emotional cognition, the HPA axis, epigenetic changes, and their links to gut microbiome imbalances. Future research may expand on these findings to investigate the underlying mechanisms and broader health and societal implications of MS. These results provide a comprehensive overview of the current research landscape in MS and offer valuable insights for researchers to guide future investigations in this field.

       BACKGROUND: Otorhinolaryngology diseases are well suited for artificial intelligence (AI)-based interpretation. The use of AI, particularly AI based on deep learning (DL), in the treatment of human diseases is becoming more and more popular. However, there are few bibliometric analyses that have systematically studied this field.
    OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to visualize the research hot spots and trends of AI and DL in ENT diseases through bibliometric analysis to help researchers understand the future development of basic and clinical research.
    METHODS: In all, 232 articles and reviews were retrieved from The Web of Science Core Collection. Using CiteSpace and VOSviewer software, countries, institutions, authors, references, and keywords in the field were visualized and examined.
    RESULTS: The majority of these papers came from 44 nations and 498 institutions, with China and the United States leading the way. Common diseases used by AI in ENT include otosclerosis, otitis media, nasal polyps, sinusitis, and so on. In the early years, research focused on the analysis of hearing and articulation disorders, and in recent years mainly on the diagnosis, localization, and grading of diseases.
    CONCLUSIONS: The analysis shows the periodical hot spots and development direction of AI and DL application in ENT diseases from the time dimension. The diagnosis and prognosis of otolaryngology diseases and the analysis of otolaryngology endoscopic images have been the focus of current research and the development trend of future.

      Objective: To understand the factors contributing to gender disparities in the research productivity of Canadian academic otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeons. Methods: Publicly available sources including departmental websites, SCOPUS, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada were accessed between February and April 2022 to analyze gender differences in the academic productivity of otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeons across Canada. Gender differences in research productivity metrics, including h-index, i10-index, publication number, and number of first and senior authorships were assessed. Demographic data, including gender, institution, years in practice, and leadership roles were assessed for correlation with increased research productivity. Subgroup analyses were used to evaluate gender differences in productivity metrics, and univariable and multivariable regression analyses were used to evaluate predictors of research productivity. Results: Data were collected for 316 academic otolaryngologists (252 men, 64 women, P < .001). Men had significantly more years of publishing [mean (standard deviation, SD), 15.64 (9.45) vs 12.44 (8.28), P = .014], higher h-indices [12.22 (11.47) vs 7.33 (5.36), P < .001], i10-indices [22.61 (37.88) vs 8.17 (9.14), P > .001], publication numbers [46.63 (65.18) vs 19.59 (23.40), P < .001], and first [8.18 (9.95) vs 4.89 (6.18), P = .001] and senior authorships [12.98 (22.72) vs 3.83 (6.89), P < .001]. Gender differences were most pronounced in head and neck oncology, pediatrics, and the late career stage. Gender disparities in productivity were absent in the early career stage. Multivariate analysis identified only the number publications and number of senior author publications as being significantly influenced by gender. Conclusion: Canadian female otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeons appear to have equivalent research productivity to their male counterparts in the early career stage. This mirrors the recent findings in the United States, and demonstrates progress compared to earlier studies that found women to have lower research productivity in the early career stage.

       OBJECTIVES: We aimed to examine the rate and characteristics of retracted articles in infectious diseases (ID) and clinical microbiology (CM).
    METHODS: Using the Retraction Watch Database we conducted a cross-sectional study for retracted publications categorized as "Infectious Disease" "or "Microbiology" until June 30th, 2022. We included publications for which citation information was available through the Web of Science database. Study characteristics, retraction trends and number of citations before and after the retraction year were analyzed.
    RESULTS: Overall, 1004 retracted publications were included, retracted between August 1968 and June 2022. The number of retractions climbed through the years, peaking in 2020-2021. 614 retractions originated from USA, China, and India, out of total 183,736 PubMed publications from these countries. Overall, 378 (38%) were retracted due to errors; 182 (18%) due to plagiarism; and 142 (14%) due to falsification/fabrication. Specific reasons included 'concerns/issues about data' (158, 16%)'; duplication of image' (127, 13%); and 'unreliable results' (116, 12%). Of the 347 retractions during 2020-June 2022, 91 (26%) were COVID-19 related. Fifty of 895 (5.6%) first authors had 2 retracted papers, and 14 (1.6%) had ≥ 2 retractions. Of 824 publications cited at least once, 466 (57%) were cited more often after retraction.
    CONCLUSIONS: Retractions of ID and CM publications are increasing. Concerning reasons such as plagiarism, falsification/fabrication and errors are not uncommon. Nonetheless, these publications continue to be commonly cited after being retracted.

      Exposure to air pollution is linked with an elevated risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and CVDs-related mortality. However, there is a shortage of scientometric analysis on this topic. Therefore, we propose a scientometric study to explore research hotspots and directions in this topical field over the past decade. We used the core collection of Web of Science (WoS) to obtain relevant publications and analyzed them using Excel, the Bibliometix R-package, CiteSpace, and VOSviewer. The study covered various aspects such as annual publications, highly cited papers, co-cited references, journals, authors, countries, organizations, and keywords. Research on air pollution and CVDs has remarkable increase over the past decade, with notable researchers including Kan H, Brook RD, Peters A, and Schwartz J. The 3144 articles were published by 4448 institutions in 131 countries/regions. The leading countries were the USA and China, and the most published journal was Environmental Research. Mortality, hospital admissions, oxidative stress, inflammation, long-term exposure, fine particulate matter, and PM2.5 are the top areas that merit further investigation and hold significant potential for advancing our understanding of the complex relationship between air pollution and CVDs.

       Introduction: This study aimed to systematically review research on cinacalcet and secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) using machine learning-based statistical analyses.
    Methods: Publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection database on Cinacalcet and SHPT published between 2000 and 2022 were retrieved. The R package "Bibliometrix," VOSviewer, CiteSpace, meta, and latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) in Python were used to generate bibliometric and meta-analytical results.
    Results: A total of 959 articles were included in our bibliometric analysis. In total, 3753 scholars from 54 countries contributed to this field of research. The United States, Japan, and China were found to be among the three most productive countries worldwide. Three Japanese institutions (Showa University, Tokai University, and Kobe University) published the most articles on Cinacalcet and SHPT. Fukagawa, M.; Chertow, G.M.; Goodman W.G. were the three authors who published the most articles in this field. Most articles were published in Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation, Kidney International, and Therapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis. Research on Cinacalcet and SHPT has mainly included three topics: 1) comparative effects of various treatments, 2) the safety and efficacy of cinacalcet, and 3) fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF-23). Integrated treatments, cinacalcet use in pediatric chronic kidney disease, and new therapeutic targets are emerging research hotspots. Through a meta-analysis, we confirmed the effects of Cinacalcet on reducing serum PTH (SMD = -0.56, 95% CI = -0.76 to -0.37, p = 0.001) and calcium (SMD = -0.93, 95% CI = -1.21to -0.64, p = 0.001) and improving phosphate (SMD = 0.17, 95% CI = -0.33 to -0.01, p = 0.033) and calcium-phosphate product levels (SMD = -0.49, 95% CI = -0.71 to -0.28, p = 0.001); we found no difference in all-cause mortality (RR = 0.97, 95% CI = 0.90 to 1.05, p = 0.47), cardiovascular mortality (RR = 0.69, 95% CI = 0.36 to 1.31, p = 0.25), and parathyroidectomy (RR = 0.36, 95% CI = 0.09 to 1.35, p = 0.13) between the Cinacalcet and non-Cinacalcet users. Moreover, Cinacalcet was associated with an increased risk of nausea (RR = 2.29, 95% CI = 1.73 to 3.05, p = 0.001), hypocalcemia (RR = 4.05, 95% CI = 2.33 to 7.04, p = 0.001), and vomiting (RR = 1.90, 95% CI = 1.70 to 2.11, p = 0.001).
    Discussion: The number of publications indexed to Cinacalcet and SHPT has increased rapidly over the past 22 years. Literature distribution, research topics, and emerging trends in publications on Cinacalcet and SHPT were analyzed using a machine learning-based bibliometric review. The findings of this meta-analysis provide valuable insights into the efficacy and safety of cinacalcet for the treatment of SHPT, which will be of interest to both clinical and researchers.

      Our goal is to analyze improvement of scientific performance in a multidimensional outcome space, with a focus on US-based biomedical research. With the growing diversity of research databases, limiting assessment of scientific productivity to bibliometric measures such as number of publications, impact factor of journals and number of citations, is increasingly challenged. Using a wider range of outcomes, from publications through practice improvements to entrepreneurial outcomes, overcomes many current limitations in the study of research growth. However, combining such heterogeneous datasets raise three challenges: 1. gathering in one common place a variety of data shared as csv, xml or xls files, 2. merging and linking this data, that sometimes overlap, 3. assessing the impact of research production and inclusive practices in a multidimensional space, that are often missing from the datasets. We would like to present our solution for the first of those challenges, and discuss our leads for the second and third challenges.

Researchers and academics create these technologies through research and invention. By undertaking a bibliometric analysis, this study aims to identify the scholarship in the area of SDG assessment and measurement. The analysis was produced by collecting the related studies from the Web of Science database. The information was retrieved, and a thorough and organized analysis was done to give crucial insights on the chosen issue. The analysis revealed the most often cited articles, important institutions that contributed, leading research-involved nations, and institutions. To evaluate the varied collection of techniques accessible for the goal of evaluating SDGs, a thorough review of the most cited works is conducted and provides a bird's eye view of research on mechanisms for measuring the outcomes of SDGs.

       OBJECTIVE: To analyze research publication trends in high-impact factor journals, comparing gynecologic cancers with other cancers from 2000 to 2018.
    METHODS: Abstracts from the 55 journals with the highest impact factors, as measured by Clarivate, from 2000 to 2018 were extracted from PubMed. We developed an algorithm to search the title of the abstract to determine whether the abstract was about cancer and to identify the cancer type. The algorithm was validated against the gold standard of human review in 1,143 abstracts. Article proportion was compared with site-specific incidence, mortality, and lethality from the National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results database using scatterplots and nonparametric Wilcoxon signed-rank test.
    RESULTS: We identified 128,377 articles; 31,045 (24.1%) were about cancer and 1,189 (3.8%) were about gynecologic cancers. Gynecologic cancers (ovarian, cervical, and uterine) were all poorly represented in high-impact factor journals compared with their incidence, mortality, and lethality. Ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancers ranked in the bottom half of Article-to-Lethality scores (P<.01 for all comparisons). Analyses of the trends for gynecologic cancers over the past 18 years showed no change over time in Article-to-Lethality scores. Comparison of rankings by lethality with rankings by funding indicates relative underfunding of the gynecologic cancers.
    CONCLUSION: Research publications in high-impact factor journals by cancer site are not proportionate with individual cancer burden on society. Gynecologic cancers are significantly underrepresented in research publications relative to their disease burden, indicating a disparity that persists over the past 18 years. Relative underfunding of gynecologic cancers likely contributes to this publication gap.

       Background: Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) can act on the bacterial cell membrane to play an antibacterial role in types of drug-resistant bacteria. Therefore, AMPs have attracted more and more attention in the treatment of drug-resistant bacteria.
    Methods: Bibliometric analysis was employed to sort out the development and trends in the research of AMPs in the treatment of drug-resistant bacteria and map the knowledge structure for scholars.
    Results: Since 2010, the publications and citations in this field have exploded, indicating a growing global interest in the field of AMPs for the treatment of drug-resistant bacteria. And as major countries in this field, China and the USA had conducted very in-depth exchanges and cooperation, which had injected a steady stream of impetus into this field. Both old and new scholars have made efforts, and related fields have developed rapidly, especially in the synthesis and improvement of novel AMPs. In recent years, research directions in the field of AMPs for the treatment of drug-resistant bacteria gradually focused on the practical application, optimization of drug delivery mode, optimization of synthesis mode, screening of new AMPs and other fields, indicating that the relevant research results of AMPs for the treatment of drug-resistant bacteria had entered the actual clinical stage, with higher practical significance.
    Conclusion: The research history, global research status, future research hotspots, and trends of the research of AMPs in the treatment of drug-resistant bacteria were discussed in depth in this study, which can provide research references and inspiration for researchers inside and outside the related field.

      This bibliometric study includes publications on the use of active packaging in food packaging from 2000 to 2021. The number of research related to this study tends to increase annually with an annual growth rate of 23.76%, totaling 857 articles. In this study it was found that the most influential countries in the field of Active Packaging are Spain, China, and Brazil. Moreover, the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules and Nerín are the most prolific journal and author in scientific publications, respectively. Active packaging, food packaging, and antimicrobial are often used based on the total link strength out of the 1,775 keywords. The keyword analysis based on time found new terms that are being studied by many researchers, namely, bioplastics as environmentally friendly packaging, based on polysaccharides and nanoparticles, which have the potential to be developed or collaborated for breakthroughs. Therefore, the use of active packaging shows a promising trend for the packaging industry in the future.

      This paper investigates biomass and solar energy's present and future perspectives in low/zero energy and carbon emissions. Its data source is published articles indexed in the Scopus database. By analyzing the articles extracted in Vos viewer software, four main areas of research are found: sustainable development, economic and managerial issues, methods, algorithms, modeling technologies, and renewable energy and its sources and types. In all four sections, research gaps were observed in the field of the third generation of photovoltaics (semi-transparent solar cells )organic)) and algae. As part of the study, advanced bibliometric analysis was carried out by VOS viewer software, and 34129 articles were examined from Scopus, alongside a patent analysis using Google patents, in addition to the bibliometric analysis. It has been shown by machine learning that about 9% of future articles in all energy fields will consist of building articles, and a quarter of these articles will be in the field of renewable energy. While residential and commercial sectors are the dominant areas of renewable energy utilization and commercialization research, the potential of new generations of renewable energy technologies will create significant opportunities to achieve low/zero energy-carbon emission buildings. The paper concludes by predicting the increasing rate of renewable energy and building articles compared to energy articles by 2030, emphasizing the critical role of research in advancing sustainable energy solutions. This data mining analysis helps to identify the current gaps and opportunities. Therefore, great potential will be created to develop and commercialize a new generation of technologies in this industry.

      HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and modern quality management systems have a significant impact on public health in the food industry. These systems ensure that food products are safe for consumption by identifying and managing potential hazards at every stage of the production process. To stimulate ongoing studies in both developing and underexplored areas of inquiry, this research synthesizes and organizes the contributions made in this field. It examines more than 40 years of studies from Scopus data base on HACCP and modern quality management systems in the food industry using the VOSviewer software version 1.6.18 (Leiden University, The Netherlands) and bibliometrix R-package. This represents, to the authors' knowledge, the first bibliometric analysis undergone in this direction. The graphical framework demonstrates the highest developments in research and the literature review investigates barriers and opportunities of implementing HACCP in food industry organizations. Findings indicate that until the beginning of the 1990s, there was not a large number of scientific production in the field of HACCP and modern quality management systems in the food industry. The USA were the most prolific affiliation terms of scientific production until 2012, when studies from Italy, the United Kingdom, China and Greece intensified. Currently, the most prolific country in terms of publications is Italy. In terms of global cooperation, the United Kingdom, The United States and The Netherlands represent most active nations on this topic Motor themes that reflect the main interest of the researchers include food diseases, quality control, hazards or food supply. The study also provides future research directions regarding food quality and safety management. These should be focused on improving the safety, quality, and sustainability of food products, while also adapting to changing consumer demands, emerging risks, and regulatory requirements.

      In recent years, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) report has gained strategic importance within organizations, especially after the development of strategies and different international regulations, such as the Global Compact and the United Nations' 2030 Agenda or Directive 2014/95/EU. This, together with the boom in CSR research and business management, has given rise to heterogeneity in the conceptualization and management of CSR report. Consequently, this research study proposes a bibliometric and systematic analysis of 4966 research articles, available in the Scopus repository and published during the period of 2001-2021, to improve the conceptualization and management of CSR communication. The documents analyzed were research articles that included concepts such as CSR, communication, and reporting in the title, abstract and keywords and that were published in the 21st century. The results show an exponential growth in scientific production in recent years, coinciding with the development of strategies and international regulations, and with a high percentage of authors, institutions and countries coming from the European Union. Additionally, the main characteristics of the research are obtained alongside data on the most productive authors, institutions, journals, and countries, in addition to information about their international cooperation networks. Finally, the results present the most relevant contributions in regard to the four research topics detected, namely: (a) accountability; (b) disclosure of performance; (c) management of the organization; (d) corporate strategy; and (e) corporate reputation. These results indicate a broad multidisciplinarity of this line of research. Finally, future lines of research that can contribute to improving or expanding the current findings in this research area are established.

       OBJECTIVE: To characterize Twitter utilization among academic otolaryngologists and evaluate the relationship between Twitter utilization and research productivity.
    METHODS: Data were collected manually from accredited US otolaryngology residency programs from July-November 2021. Program and faculty demographics were documented, including citations and H-index for faculty and Doximity reputation and US News and World Report ranking for programs. Twitter metrics were also recorded. Descriptive analyses and multivariable logistic regression models were used to identify predictors of Twitter utilization.
    RESULTS: Currently, 333 (16%) faculty and 70 (62%) programs have a Twitter account. Of these, 36 (11%) and 27 (39%), respectively, were created in 2020. The regression model indicates that for each 5 unit increase in H-index, the odds of having a Twitter account increase 22% (OR 1.22, 95% CI 1.10-1.34, p = 0.0009). The number of faculty with a Twitter account predicts the existence of program Twitter accounts (OR:1.49, 95% CI 1.01-2.19, p = 0.04). Finally, of the 323 faculty with a Twitter account and available Scopus profile, we found that the number of individuals with Twitter use out of proportion to their academic productivity was low (n = 8/323).
    CONCLUSION: The H-index is a significant predictor of faculty Twitter accounts, whereas the number of faculty with Twitter is a significant predictor of program Twitter utilization. Although Twitter utilization is increasing, especially during the coronavirus pandemic, the findings indicate that there is ample room for growth, particularly amongst faculty with strong academic portfolios.

       Background: The American Thoracic Society (ATS) Methods in Epidemiologic, Clinical, and Operations Research (MECOR) Program aims to build research capacity in low and middle-income countries. MECOR has three levels, during which students learn to develop a research protocol and write a manuscript. MECOR Turkiye has been offered every year since 2008.
    Objective: The aim of this paper is to report the number and impact of published articles generated from research questions developed by students in levels 1, 2, and 3 of the ATS MECOR Program in Turkiye between 2008 and 2018.
    Methods: We collected the research questions developed in all levels of the ATS MECOR Program in Turkiye between 2008 and 2018. We searched Google Scholar, PubMed, Web of Science, and ResearchGate in April 2022 to see how many of these research questions were published as articles and, if published, in which journals.
    Results: Of the 176 research questions collected, 49 had been developed in level 1, 82 had been developed in level 2, and 45 had been developed in level 3. Of those 176 research questions, 55 (31.3%) generated articles that were accepted for publication. The frequency of published articles based on MECOR-developed research questions increased linearly as the course level in which they were developed increased (18.4% in level 1, 30% in level 2, 46.7% in level 3; P = 0.012; linear-by-linear association, P = 0.003). The median time from the development of the research question to publication was three years overall and did not differ significantly among the course levels (P = 0.36). Of the research questions developed, 43 were published in Science Citation Index or Science Citation Index Expanded-indexed journals.
    Conclusion: Acceptance of an article for publication is one way to measure the impact of the ATS MECOR Program. Our data describe significant research output among our participants, which increases with their length of participation in the program.

      Air pollution is a leading environmental-health challenge facing the world today. Besides, the emergency of the COVID-19 pandemic has also put some spotlight on issues related to air pollution as both attack the same human respiratory organs. The purpose of this study was to provide an overview of research performance, trends and evolution in the field of ambient air quality monitoring and management in South Africa over the last decade (2010-2021) through the application of a bibliometric approach and a data mining software VOSViewer. Findings were that there has been a steady increase in the number of ambient air quality monitoring and management publications per year. Over the period under review, 2014 contributed 14 % while 2020 contributed 27 % of the total publications. Also, the study established that throughout the period South African scientist collaborated extensively with scientists from Finland, the United States of America, France, and Switzerland. Besides raising awareness levels in the field, the increase in studies can also assist policy formulation and development. In the meantime, the South African National government has also put in place several mitigation strategies to reduce emissions for example the enactment of ambient air quality guidelines.

      Acne or acne vulgaris is the most common chronic inflammatory disease of the sebaceous follicles.
    Objectives: The present study aims to identify the main lines of research in the field of acne treatment using reproducible scientometric methods. In this article, we reviewed the following research trends: facial acne, different antibiotics, retinoids, anti-inflammatory drugs, epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors therapy, and associated diseases.
    Methods: The analysis of publications from the PubMed collection was carried out from 1871 to 2022. All data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel. The evolution of the terminological portrait of the disease is shown.
    Results: Trends in the use of various groups of antibiotics, retinoids, anti-inflammatory drugs, and photodynamic therapy for acne treatment have been found. There is a growing interest in clindamycin and doxycycline (polynomial and exponential growth, respectively). The effects of isotretinoin are also being studied more frequently (active linear growth). The publication of studies on spironolactone is increasing (linear growth). There is also a steady interest in the use of epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors in the recent years. There is active research on acne and polycystic ovary syndrome (exponential growth).
    Limitations: Only articles in English were selected. The most frequent terms were considered.
    Conclusions: The dynamics of publication activity in the field of acne was considered. The aim of the current scientometric study was to analyze the global trends in acne treatments. The trend analysis made it possible to identify the most explored areas of research, as well as indicate those areas in dermatology in which interest is declining.

       Purpose: To compare the time to publication of accepted manuscripts and content in orthopaedic sports medicine journals during the first 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic.
    Methods: A convenience sample of articles published in January, May, and September during the years 2019-2021 was taken from Arthroscopy, American Journal of Sports Medicine (AJSM), and Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy (KSSTA). The duration between the aspects of the article publication process was compared between journals and years.
    Results: Overall, 826 journal articles were included. Arthroscopy demonstrated no significant differences in the time from manuscript submission to journal publication from 2019 to 2021, a significant decrease in time from acceptance to e-Pub (140 vs 74 vs 16 days; P < .001), but an increase from e-Pub to journal publication (23 vs 74 vs 130 days; P < .001). In AJSM, there was an overall increase in time from submission to journal publication significant between 2019 and 2021 (P = .05) and 2020 and 2021 (P = .001). KSSTA demonstrated the longest timelines in 2020. There was a trend toward a greater number of systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
    Conclusion: Changes in various aspects of the time to publication and journal content occurred in orthopaedic sports medicine journals in the years surrounding the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Although it is not possible to know whether these delays are caused by journal or author-related factors, orthopaedic surgeons should be aware of the possible delay in time to publication and consider online and e-publication resources for the most current evidence-based medicine, while journals may take this information into account to consider ways of improving the publication process and when determining journal content.
    Clinical Relevance: It is important to understand the impact the COVID-19 pandemic had on the publications which orthopaedic sports medicine surgeons rely on for clinical knowledge and the practice of evidence-based medicine.

       OBJECTIVE: To assess trends in gender representation within editorial boards of European and North American orthodontic journals from 2000 to 2023.
    MATERIALS AND METHODS: Retrospective cross-sectional study of editorial boards of orthodontic journals. The first issue of volumes of identified journals from the years 2000, 2010 and 2023 were investigated to demonstrate trends over time.
    RESULTS: Eight journals were included. Across the period investigated, a total of 810 editorial board positions were identified with most positions held by men (657/810; 81.1%). The proportion of female editorial board members increased from 14.7% (36/245) in 2000 to 24.5% (73/298) in 2023. The number of female Editor-in-Chief increased from zero in 2000 to two in 2023. Three journals demonstrated a reduction in female representation from 2000 to 2023.
    CONCLUSION: Females remain underrepresented within editorial boards of orthodontic journals which is a key metric of presence and leadership in orthodontic academia.

       PURPOSE: Needle-free jet injection has to some extent improved the quality of life of patients with diabetes, but it has not been widely used. Therefore, we analyzed articles, clinical trials, and patents of needle-free insulin injection to (1) perform a systematic and comprehensive analysis of scientific research and technology innovation in needle-free insulin injection during the past 49 years (1974 to 2022) and (2) identify the status of scientific research and technology innovation, their limitations, and future trends.
    METHODS: With a new perspective, we use scientometric tools, including co-word and word frequency analyses, text mining, and cluster network analysis, to provide a scientometric analysis and visualization of articles, clinical trials, and patents related to needle-free insulin injection delivery applications.
    FINDINGS: Patent innovation in this field was more active than clinical research, and clinical research prevailed over basic research. Basic research and clinical trials in this field mainly involved therapy, penetration, tolerability, absorption, and pharmacokinetic properties. Drive mechanisms and needle-free injection devices were the core patent technologies in this field.
    IMPLICATIONS: Although needle-free insulin injection has been under development for decades, its full potential has not yet been reached; needle-free injection technology is still in the growth stage. The field of needleless insulin injection is dominated by patent technology innovation.

      Introduction An invitation to speak at grand rounds (GR) is considered an honor and an activity important for academic promotion. The aim of this study was to determine the representation of women among invited speakers at departmental GR and assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on it. Methods We conducted a retrospective descriptive study on gender differences in all GR speakers between January 2019 and June 2021 at an academic health system in Western Massachusetts. We calculated the overall percentage of women presenters and compared it with the percentage of women faculty at our institution and nationally. To evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on this association, we calculated the absolute percentage difference between women and men speakers using the date of March 13, 2020, as the cut-off and conducted a sensitivity analysis using June 15, 2020, as the cut-off. Results During the study period, 46% (276/607) of GR speakers at our institution were women. This percentage reflected the percentage of the women faculty overall at our institution and was similar to women's representation among faculty nationally. Departments with high percentages of women faculty (Obstetrics and Gynecology, 76%; Pediatrics, 65%) had high percentages of women GR speakers (Obstetrics and Gynecology, 70%; Pediatrics, 51%; Psychiatry, 62%). COVID-19 did not appear to significantly influence gender representation among speakers. Conclusion At our institution, less than half of the GR speakers were women. However, this percentage appears to reflect the overall percentage of women faculty. Potential barriers and opportunities resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic did not appear to impact this finding.

      The objective of this study is to investigate the application of machine learning techniques to the large-scale human expert evaluation of the impact of academic research. Using publicly available impact case study data from the UK's Research Excellence Framework (2014), we trained five machine learning models on a range of qualitative and quantitative features, including institution, discipline, narrative style (explicit and implicit), and bibliometric and policy indicators. Our work makes two key contributions. Based on the accuracy metric in predicting high- and low-scoring impact case studies, it shows that machine learning models are able to process information to make decisions that resemble those of expert evaluators. It also provides insights into the characteristics of impact case studies that would be favoured if a machine learning approach was applied for their automated assessment. The results of the experiments showed strong influence of institutional context, selected metrics of narrative style, as well as the uptake of research by policy and academic audiences. Overall, the study demonstrates promise for a shift from descriptive to predictive analysis, but suggests caution around the use of machine learning for the assessment of impact case studies.

      In many scientific disciplines, common research practices have led to unreliable and exaggerated evidence about scientific phenomena. Here we describe some of these practices and quantify their pervasiveness in recent ecology publications in five popular journals. In an analysis of over 350 studies published between 2018 and 2020, we detect empirical evidence of exaggeration bias and selective reporting of statistically significant results. This evidence implies that the published effect sizes in ecology journals exaggerate the importance of the ecological relationships that they aim to quantify. An exaggerated evidence base hinders the ability of empirical ecology to reliably contribute to science, policy, and management. To increase the credibility of ecology research, we describe a set of actions that ecologists should take, including changes to scientific norms about what high-quality ecology looks like and expectations about what high-quality studies can deliver.
