Football is a popular sport on a global scale, and injuries sustained by football players have become a significant concern for sports physicians and researchers. Among these injuries, knee injuries are a commonly encountered problem in football players with long-term effects. This paper aims to perform a visual mapping and a bibliometric analysis of research on knee injuries in football, examining the current state and research trends. For this purpose, all publications from the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), and Arts & Humanities Citation Index (AHCI) within the Web of Science database were analysed. VOSviewer 1.6.18 was utilised for visualising bibliometric data. A total of 2159 publications were included in the study. The analysis covers publication year, authors, citation counts, and distributions among publishing journals. Authors, institutions, and international relationships were investigated, and keyword analysis, bibliometric coupling, and co-citation network analyses were conducted. The findings reveal that the United States and Australia are the countries with the highest number of publications. From 2018, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of publications. Citation and publication counts reached their peak in 2021. Turkey takes the 28th rank in terms of citation and centrality. The keywords "soccer," "football," "knee", and "anterior cruciate ligament" were found to be intensively used with high centrality. In conclusion, visual mapping through bibliometric analysis highlights the magnitude and diversity of research in the field of knee injuries in football. It emphasises the need for further studies in this area for future researchers, shedding light on important research areas. Moreover, it provides insights into the prevention of such injuries in football players and the development of effective treatment strategies by fostering more knowledge and understanding of knee injuries.

This study examines the concept of health advocacy and explores related scholarly material to understand its evolution from 1977 to 2021. The bibliometric analysis investigates the publication trends, most relevant authors, keywords-based clusters, research trends, author productivity, and future research areas in health advocacy. The relevant articles were extracted from the Scopus database and analyzed to identify and explore the most active authors, author-wise contribution to the sources, sub-research topics, core sources, top authors' production over time, global cited documents, thematic maps, word cloud, country-wise collaboration network and map, author keywords-based network, historiograph, and spectroscope. The study finds that health advocacy as a concept is under-explored and thus warrants a need for future research work. Limited authors have contributed to this theme, and the continuity of publication needs to be improved. The study highlights that there needs to be a robust framework to assess, evaluate, and implement health advocacy. The researchers are limited to only a few authors who have published in limited journals. The current study brings out the need for research and publications on health advocacy to develop a framework for assessing and implementing health advocacy. Also, the study highlights emerging themes of Coronavirus pandemic and emergency and disaster preparation. The niche themes that emerged during the survey highlight keywords such as agenda-setting and maternal health.

Survey research enables the gathering of information on individual perspectives in a large cohort. It can be epidemiological, attitude or knowledge focussed. Assessment of survey studies sampling neurosurgeons is currently lacking in the literature. This study aimed to highlight the characteristics, quality, and citation predictors of the most influential survey research studies published in the neurosurgical literature. Using PubMed and Google Scholar, the 50 most cited survey research publications were identified and reviewed. Data relating to the characteristics of the articles, participants and questionnaires were retrieved. The studies' quality and citation patterns were assessed. The median articles' age and publishing journal impact factor (IF) were 15.5 years and 2.82, respectively. Thirty-two (64%) articles were first authored by researchers from the USA while 28(56%) studies were focussed on specific disease management. The median number of participants and response rates were 222 and 51%, respectively. A full version of the questionnaire was provided in 18 (36%) articles. Only four (8%) articles reported validation of the questionnaire. The overall quality of reporting of the surveys was considered fair (based on good grading in five parameters, fair grading in one parameter, and poor grading in four parameters). The median citation number was 111. The citation analysis showed that the participant number, article age (≥15.5 years), and questionnaire category (surgical complications) were significant predictors of citation numbers. The citation rates were not influenced by the response rates or the journal's IF. In conclusion, high-impact survey publications in the neurosurgical literature were moderately cited and of fair quality. Their citation numbers were not affected by response rates but were positively influenced by the publication age, number of participants, and by novel data or the questions raised in the survey category. Surveys are valuable forms of research that require extensive planning, time, and effort in order to produce meaningful results. Increasing awareness of the factors that could affect citations may be useful to those who wish to undertake survey research.

Background: Schizophrenia is a chronic mental illness that affects millions of individuals worldwide. The etiological origin of schizophrenia is heterogeneous, but it has been shown to be associated with dysfunction in serotonin activity, serotonin receptors, and serotonin metabolism in the brain. Bibliometric analysis is a tool used to scrutinise and analyse research activities and evidence in a specific research area. No existing bibliometric analyses have considered both serotonin and schizophrenia. Methods: We conducted a bibliometric analysis including 12,027 studies related to the schizophrenia-serotonin link published from the inception of the study to 2023 and available in the Scopus database. We used VOSviewer software to identify global trends, analyse the author and editors keywords, the most cited articles and author, as well as the most productive institutes and journals publishing research on schizophrenia-serotonin link.
Results: Most publications related to the link between schizophrenia and serotonin are focused on adult humans and examine topics such as antipsychotic agents, depression, and serotonin uptake inhibitors. The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry has published the most papers on the schizophrenia-serotonin relationship. Among nations, the United States is the leader in publications. King's College London is the institution with the highest number of publications, and H. Y. Meltzer is the most influential author. Growing trends in schizophrenia-serotonin research are personalised medicine, alternative medicine, transcranial magnetic stimulation, artificial intelligence, nervous system inflammation, brain-gut axis, and the gut microbiome.
Conclusion: Since 1950, there have been several fluctuations in the number of published studies related to schizophrenia and serotonin. We believe that the development of novel medications and treatments for schizophrenia will be increased in the future, as well as research into genetic risks, psychological factors, and cranial neuroimaging components. Future schizophrenia and serotonin research is likely to focus on personalised medicine, alternative therapies, novel pathogenesis of schizophrenia, and the use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

BACKGROUND: Despite considerable progress in cancer immunotherapy, it is not available for many patients. Resistance to immune checkpoint blockers arises from the intricate interactions between cancer and its microenvironment. Metabolic reprogramming in tumor and immune cells in the tumor microenvironment (TME) influences anti-tumor immune responses by remodeling the immune microenvironment. Metabolic reprogramming has emerged as an important hallmark of tumorigenesis. However, few studies have focused on the TME and metabolic reprogramming. Therefore, we aimed to explore the current research status and popular topics in TME-related metabolic reprogramming over a 20 years using a bibliometric approach.METHODS: Studies focusing on metabolic reprogramming and TME were searched using the Web of Science Core Collection database. Bibliometric and visual analyses of the articles and reviews were performed using Bibliometrix, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace.
RESULTS: In total, 4726 articles published between 2003 and 2022 were selected. The number of publications and citations has increased annually. Cooperation network analysis indicated that the United States holds the foremost position in metabolic reprogramming and TME research with the highest volume of publications and citations, thus exerting the greatest influence. Among these institutions, Fudan University displayed the highest level of productivity. Frontiers in Immunology showed the highest degree of productivity in this field. Ho Ping-Chih made the most article contributions, and Pearce Edward J. was the most co-cited author. Four clusters were obtained after a cluster analysis of the authors' keywords: TME, metabolic reprogramming, immunometabolism, and immunity. Immunometabolism, glycolysis, immune cells, and tumor-associated macrophages are relatively recent keywords that have attracted increasing attention.
CONCLUSIONS: A comprehensive landscape of advancements in metabolic reprogramming and the TME was evaluated, which provided crucial information for scholars to further advance this promising field. Further research should explore new topics related to immunometabolism in the TME using a transdisciplinary approach.

Using bibliometric analysis of large-scale publication data is a simple approach to exploring gender-related trends, especially gender equality in academic publishing. The aim of this study is to investigate gender trends in the fields of bio-economy and rural development sciences in two under develop regions as Latin America and Africa. This study examines gender differences in these fields in order to: (1) recognize the contribution of female researchers in bioeconomy and rural development, (2) explore the relational structure of gender aspects in academic publications, (3) identify trends in female authorship in these scientific research fields over time, and finally (4) identify gender potentials for women to become more visible in these fields of study. To achieve these objectives, we used bibliometric tools to analyses 1891 publication records in bioeconomy and rural development. After cleaning the database of full names of authors of academic publications relevant to the field studies, we performed a series of statistical analyses in R and SPSS software, such as Lotkas distribution, network analysis, co-authorship analysis and spatial distribution of authors in the study. The results show that the number of male authors is almost three times higher than the number of female authors, suggesting that women are under-represented in the fields studied. Men occupy the most important position of authorship in scientific articles; publications with corresponding male authors were found in 1389 out of 1891 publications related to the bio-economy and rural development. In terms of geographical regions, publications with female authors were more prevalent in European and North American areas, with a small exception in some developing countries such as Argentina and South Africa. In terms of research networks, from the total number of authors evaluated, only 23% are female authors on the map of research influence. This indicates that there is a significant gap to be filled in the promotion of scholarly impact through the sharing of knowledge and expertise among authors.

BACKGROUND: Altmetric Attention Score (AAS) captures online attention received by a research article in addition to traditional bibliometrics. We present a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of high AAS articles and identify predictors of AAS in orthopedics.MATERIALS AND METHODS: The top 30 articles with highest AAS were selected from orthopedic journals using the Dimensions App. Multilevel mixed-effects linear regression was used to address clustering in articles from the same journal, with journals as the leveling variable.
RESULTS: A total of 750 articles from 25 journals were included. In the final multivariable model, the funding source (none, industry, government, foundation, university, or multiple), findings (positive, negative, neutral, or not applicable), and the journal's impact factor were significant at P<.05.
CONCLUSION: Predictors of AAS are similar to predictors of traditional bibliometrics. Future studies need prospective dynamic data to further elucidate the AAS. [Orthopedics. 20XX;4X(X):XXX-XXX.].

Background: Citation analysis reflects the influence a work has on a field of research and can be used to identify "classic" works and their qualities in medical specialties. By analyzing the characteristics of these works, we intended to determine what qualities make for a highly cited work in pediatric orthopaedic sports medicine.Purpose: To identify the top 25 most cited articles in the field of pediatric orthopaedic sports medicine.
    Study Design: Cross-sectional study.
Methods: The Science Citation Index Expanded feature within the Web of Science database was searched using a Boolean string, generating 2008 pediatric orthopaedic sports medicine articles arranged by number of citations. The top 25 most cited articles were reviewed for authors, year of publication, source journal, country of origin, region of origin, diagnosis or condition of focus, and level of evidence (LOE).
Results: Most of the articles were published in the 2000s (range, 1992-2016). The mean number of citations was 166 (range, 119-329), and the mean citation density was 13.25 (range, 4.25-29.57). There were 18 of 25 studies performed in the United States. A plurality of the articles were published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine. The LOE ranged from 2 to 4, with the most common being level 2 (11/25). Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury management (14/25) and epidemiological studies on the incidence of various sports injuries (6/25) were the most represented topics of study. Since the 1990s, the mean citation density for articles related to ACL injuries in young athletes and the epidemiology of sports injuries has been increasing.
Conclusion: This evaluation demonstrated that ACL injuries and the epidemiology of sports injuries had the highest citation density of the most influential studies in pediatric orthopaedic sports medicine. We identified attributes such as country of publication, journal of publication, and LOE that make for a highly cited pediatric orthopaedic sports medicine article. Overall, citation density in pediatric sports medicine is increasing. Nonetheless, the most represented LOE in the most cited works is level 2, with no level 1 studies being represented in the top 25. In terms of both topics and LOE, this study allows surgeons to identify deficiencies in the existing literature and meaningfully design future studies to improve on these.

Background: Africa has a high double burden of infectious and non-communicable diseases underscoring the critical need for robust scientific research. However, it is also associated with low scientific research productivity. Mozambique, which gained independence in 1975, serves as a poignant example. However, there remains a notable scarcity of evidence evaluating the country's trajectory in scientific and academic development. This study aims to evaluate 43 years of health-related scientific knowledge production through bibliometric analysis, focusing on key indicators. Additionally, it seeks to characterize the higher education institutions within the country. Methods: The data was retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection using an advanced search tool with Boolean research strategies, covering the period from 1976 to 2022 for all PALOP and 1976 to 2019 for Mozambique. To map Mozambican higher institutions, information was sourced from the Ministry of Science Technology and Higher Education database. Descriptive statistics were employed to summarize the findings, while the VOSviewer program version 1.6.19 was utilized to visualize distance-based bibliometric networks, focusing on co-authorship among institutions and keyword co-occurrence.
Results: Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP) contribute 2.5 % (10,933 out of 442,309) to Africa's total scientific output, with Mozambique leading at 63.6 % (6,951 publications) followed by Angola at 16.6 % (1,811 publications). All PALOP countries experienced decreased scientific productivity during the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic. In Mozambique, over 70 % (1,710 out of 2,380) of health-related publications from 2011 to 2019 were concentrated in this period. Key journals for health sciences include PLOS ONE, Malaria Journal, and Tropical Medicine & International Health, focusing on HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis. Higher education institutions in Mozambique show regional disparities, with 67.9 % in the South and only 8.9 % in the North, indicating significant inequality in their distribution across the country.
Conclusion: This study highlights Mozambique's significant progress in health research productivity over 43 years, establishing it as a leader among PALOP countries. The substantial increase in publications, particularly after 2008, underscores the nation's growing research capacity and commitment to addressing critical health challenges such as HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis. However, regional disparities in higher education access and limited research contributions from private universities remain high in Mozambique.

Background: Implant-based breast reconstruction (IBR), following mastectomy, significantly impacts patients' quality of life (QoL), necessitating accurate measurement through psychometrically robust patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) tools. This bibliometric analysis aims to discern trends, identify gaps, and evaluate the use of such tools in the IBR literature. Methods: The 100 most cited publications regarding QoL in implant-based reconstruction were identified on Web of Science, across all available journal years (from 1977 to 2024) on 10 March 2024. Study details, including the citation count, main content focus, outcome measures, and usage of psychological questionnaires, were extracted and tabulated from each publication. The Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine (OCEBM) levels of evidence (LOE) of each study were assessed.
Results: The 100 most cited publications on QoL in implant-based reconstruction were identified, encompassing 64,192 patients and 28,114 reconstructed breasts. Citations per publication ranged from 62 to 457 (mean, 124.95 ± 73.05), with the highest-cited study being authored by Al-Ghazal (n = 457). The vast majority of publications were LOE II (n = 52), representative of prospective cohort studies, systematic reviews of non-randomised studies, and systematic review and meta-analysis. The number of publications for LOE V, IV, III, and I was 0, 7, 41, and 0, respectively. The main content focus was "quality of life" in 83 publications, with significant utilisation of the BREAST-Q questionnaire. A total of 80 publications used validated questionnaires with psychometric development.
Conclusions: This analysis demonstrates that the research methodologies within IBR mostly consist of moderate-quality publications; however, notably, there was a lack of LOE I studies, underscoring a gap in high-quality research within the field. Moreover, only 62/100 used validated PROM tools. Future IBR research studies should be focussed on most robust methodologies, incorporating validated PROM tools, to optimise shared-decision making and informed consent.

OBJECTIVES: To analyze gender inequities and trends in the authorship of articles published in high-impact factor journals of the field of Oral Medicine and Pathology.METHODS: The gender and country of first and last authors were retrieved from original articles published between 2000 and 2022. Poisson regression models and classification and regression tree (CART) analysis were performed.
RESULTS: A total of 6595 studies were analyzed for first authorship, and 6627 for last authorship. Only 39.2% (CI 95% 38.0-40.3) of the first authors and 24.1% (CI 95% 23.1-25.1) of the last authors were females. Females consistently faced underrepresentation throughout the 23-year evaluation. The only region where female first authors are not a minority is Latin America. Having a female as the last author increased the prevalence of females in the first author position by 42% (PR = 1.42, CI 95% [1.30-1.54]). The most important discriminant variable by CART was the first author region.
CONCLUSION: Although a slight decrease in underrepresentation was noted over the period, after 2020, the gender gap tended to widen for both first and last authors. It is crucial to implement measures aimed at attracting, retaining, and advancing women in the field of science, while also actively monitoring advancements toward achieving gender equity.

Objective: To explore the research progress and trends on mineral elements and depression. Methods: After querying the MeSH database and referring to the search rules, the search terms were selected and optimized to obtain the target literature collection. We analyzed the general characteristics of the literature, conducted network clustering and co-occurrence analysis, and carried out a narrative review of crucial literature.
Results: Bipolar disorder was a dominant topic in the retrieved literature, which saw a significant increase in 2010 and 2019-2020. Most studies focused on mineral elements, including lithium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and copper. The majority of journals and disciplines were in the fields of psychiatry, neuropsychology, neuropharmacology, nutrition, medical informatics, chemistry, and public health. The United States had the highest proportion in terms of paper sources, most-cited articles, high-frequency citations, frontier citations, and high centrality citation. Regarding the influence of academic institutions, the top five were King's College London, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Barcelona, INSERM, and Heidelberg University. Frontier keywords included bipolar disorder, drinking water, (neuro)inflammation, gut microbiota, and systematic analysis. Research on lithium response, magnesium supplementation, and treatment-resistant unipolar depression increased significantly after 2013.
Conclusion: Global adverse events may have indirectly driven the progress in related research. Although the literature from the United States represents an absolute majority, its influence on academic institutions is relatively weaker. Multiple pieces of evidence support the efficacy of lithium in treating bipolar disorder (BD).       BACKGROUND: As orthopedic surgery becomes increasingly competitive, orthopedic surgeons are now pursuing advanced degrees more frequently to enhance their resumes or gain additional expertise. The specific impact of this additional training and education on a surgeon's career trajectory is not well defined. The purpose of this study was to understand the impact of an advanced degree on the academic career of orthopedic shoulder and elbow surgeons.METHODS: Orthopedic shoulder and elbow fellowship-trained surgeons were identified using the directory listed on the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons website. Demographics, education, and current professional roles were obtained. Research productivity was obtained using SCOPUS and Google Scholar. Advanced degrees were defined as those additional to the primary medical degree (Doctor of Medicine [MD] or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine [DO]). Outcome measures collected included timing of advanced degree obtainment, current academic and leadership roles, leadership on journal editorial boards, and research productivity. Statistical analysis was performed using the chi-square test and Mann-Whitney U test to determine the association of advanced degrees on outcome measures.
RESULTS: In total, 893 orthopedic shoulder and elbow surgeons were identified, of whom 129 had advanced degrees. Most common advanced degrees included Master of Science (MS/MSc; 43%), Master of Business Administration (MBA; 23%), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD; 13%). The most common period of degree obtainment was before medical school (35%) with the least common times being after medical school/before residency (0.9%) and between residency and fellowship training (0.9%). Surgeons who held advanced degrees demonstrated greater research productivity, with a higher h-index (p < 0.001), a greater number of citations (p < 0.001), and more publications (p < 0.001). Of the 523 shoulder and elbow surgeons who worked at an academic institution, those holding advanced degrees were more likely to serve as orthopedic department chair (p < 0.001) and serve an editorial board position (< 0.001).
CONCLUSION: This study found that having an advanced degree as an orthopedic shoulder and elbow surgeon was linked to higher research impact and productivity and an increased likelihood of becoming a department chair and holding an editorial position. These significant findings can help future trainees and department leadership in understanding the importance and impact of additional training on career trajectories for academic faculty.

The pollution resulting from the emergence of the contaminant perchlorate is anticipated to have a substantial effect on the water environment in the foreseeable future. Considerable research efforts have been devoted to investigating treatment technologies for addressing perchlorate contamination, garnering widespread international interest in recent decades. A systematic review was conducted utilizing the Web of Science, Scopus, and Science Direct databases to identify pertinent articles published from 2000 to 2024. A total of 551 articles were chosen for in-depth examination utilizing VOS viewer. Bibliometric analysis indicated that countries such as China, the United States, Chile, India, Japan, and Korea have been prominent contributors to the research on this topic. The order of ClO4- occurrence was as follows: surface water > groundwater > drinking water. Various remediation methods for perchlorate contamination, such as adsorption, ion-exchange, membrane filtration, chemical reduction, and biological reduction, have been suggested. Furthermore, the research critically evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of each approach and offered recommendations for addressing their limitations. Advanced technologies have shown the potential to achieve notably enhanced removal of perchlorate and co-contaminants from water sources. However, the low concentration of perchlorate in natural water sources and the high energy consumption related to these technologies need to be solved in order to effectively remove perchlorate from water.

Maintenance and improvement of an individual's overall well-being require a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses everything from oral health care to regular physical exercise. The notion that poor oral health can influence general health and athletic performance has sparked an interest in this relationship. This study offers an overview of relevant research and a knowledge map,and discusses publication metrics and key topics concerning the relationship between physical activity or exercise and oral diseases. We searched the Web of Science database for articles published in the 21st century that addressed the relationship between physical activity and oral diseases. Under the stipulated inclusion criteria, a rigorous selection process yielded 276 from 3,883 retrieved articles. The articles were classified by what was assessed as follows: occurrence of oral diseases in athletes or sports enthusiasts (n = 174); impact of physical activity or exercise on the oral cavity (n = 59); effects of oral changes on sports performance and physical fitness (n = 31); and the connection between oral health status, physical activity or exercise, and systemic conditions (n = 12). Orofacial trauma has received the most attention among all investigated oral diseases. However, there is a need for greater attention of dysfunctional habits that can contribute to premature tooth wear, as well as oral inflammatory diseases that can have systemic implications. This mapping can encourage the development of new primary research.

Lipophagy is defined as the autophagic degradation of lipid droplets. It is a selective autophagy process that can continuously circulate and redistribute metabolites to maintain the body's energy balance. Over the last ten years, there has been a significant increase in the amount of literature on lipophagy, making it more challenging to track the field's advancement using conventional techniques. The data from the lipophagy literature published in the last ten years was converted into visual representations with the use of bibliometric tools. An increasing number of countries and institutions are delving further into lipophagy research with the support of visualization technologies. The five main illnesses of cancer, atherosclerosis, fatty liver, hyperlipidemia, and neurodegenerative diseases have become study opportunities, as have the mechanisms of macroautophagy, microautophagy, and chaperone-mediated autophagy.

BACKGROUND: The published literature represents the fundamental basis of any academic specialty, including orthodontics. Orthodontic research outputs provide useful insight into clinical and research priorities, which can help inform future research efforts and resource outputs. In recent years, the need for more patient-reported outcomes in orthodontic research has been highlighted.OBJECTIVES: To identify the most common reported research subjects in orthodontics between 2013-23; (2) identify the main outcomes and types of study design associated with this research, including study design related to patient-reported outcomes; and (3) identify trends in this research activity based upon these findings.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: A literature search was performed in a single electronic database (Scopus) to return all indexed publications with relevance to orthodontics published from 2013 to 2023. The 50 most-cited publications per year were then identified. Publication characteristics were extracted using a data collection sheet. Descriptive statistics including frequency distributions were calculated.
RESULTS: A total of 14 397 publications were identified. Publications on orthodontic bonding made up 7.02% of all output, followed by materials (5.88%) and tooth movement (5.42%). Subsequent analysis of the most-cited publications per year revealed the most frequently published subjects were aligners (12.5%), orthodontic tooth movement (9.45%), and digital workflow (9.09%), and the most common study designs were in vitro (19.09%) and retrospective observational studies (15.45%). The most common outcome type was morphological features of malocclusion (26.9%). Conversely, patient-focused measures were only reported in 12.7% of studies.
CONCLUSIONS: Orthodontic research outputs are dynamic but do show consistent research interest in certain subjects. There is a predilection for the reporting of clinician-focused outcomes; whilst these have some value, more efforts should be focused on conducting rigorous and robust studies that include patient-reported outcomes.

Based on the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Web of Science (WOS) databases, this article analyzes the deductive context, cooperation network, and research hotspots of land development rights (LDR) research in the Chinese and international literature by using CiteSpace software, and it also explores the implications of this research for the theory and practice of national territory spatial planning (NTSP) in China. The results show that (1) the literature on LDR in Chinese and international journal articles initially appeared in 1995 and 1973, respectively, researches in China experienced three stages: embryonic fluctuating development, rapid growth and stable development, and wave development, while international researches experienced two stages: embryonic fluctuating and a gradually increasing development. (2) Among these scholars and research institutions, there is no obvious difference between Chinese and international scholars, while the Renmin University of China and the State University System of Florida are the research institutions with the largest number of Chinese and international journal articles, respectively. (3) In terms of publishing journals, international journals mainly focus on land policy, cities, and resource fields, while Chinese journals mainly focus on the agricultural economy, civil and commercial law, economic systems, and macroeconomic management fields. (4) The direction and scale of thematic research vary greatly, with Chinese research mainly conducted from the perspectives of rights attribution and benefits distribution, while international research mainly focuses on the operation of the right-to-development system and its impact on the environment. In the future, studies focus on China's need to strengthen the research and institutional practice of LDR at the legal level, value level, and extension level following national conditions, formulate a land value-added benefit distribution system with efficiency and fairness, and strengthen the practice of LDR in China's NTSP based on the differences between urban and rural development.

A scientometric analysis of the Neotropical Otter is essential to establish the progress in studies with the species, in order to improve its conservation status. This study aimed to identify, categorize, and evaluate published scientific papers on Lontra longicaudis. Quantitative data was analyzed through absolute and relative frequencies, represented by tables and maps. The results showed that the publications on the Neotropical Otter increased since 1993 and have been primarily published in a specific journal (IUCN Otter Spec. Group Bull.) on the subfamily Lutrinae. Most authors reside in countries such as Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia, and publish predominantly in English. The majority of studies were conducted with free-living specimens, notably in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul and in Mexico. The most commonly used keywords match the most frequent subjects: "place of occurrence" and "diet". Despite the increase in publications, research on the Neotropical Otter is still largely limited to Brazil, Mexico, and sites near research institutions. Gaps on essential information for the species conservation, such as its biology, ecology, and behavior, were identified. The need for further studies on the Neotropical Otter in all the territory it inhabits is evident.

Introduction: Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability globally, and low-income countries such as Malawi bear a heavy burden. Tailored, high-quality research is essential for bridging existing gaps and improving the healthcare provided in low-resource settings while maximizing available resources.Aim: This mapping study aimed to synthesize the current state of stroke research in Malawi.
Methods: Six databases were thoroughly searched: CINAHL complete, Ovid MEDLINE and EMBASE, Web of Science Core Collection, PubMed, and Google Scholar.
Results: The search retrieved 598 references and identified 20 studies published between 2005 and 2023. Of these, 70% were conducted at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital only; open-access journals published 95% of the studies. Cross-sectional studies were the most common (50%), followed by case-control studies (20%). The Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Program authors contributed the most articles as main authors (25%). The number of citations per article ranged from 0 to 168 on Google Scholar, and the number of authors per article ranged from 1 to 15. Authors from thirty-five different institutions from 11 other countries partnered with Malawi on stroke articles, and England contributed 45.7% of the institutions. Most articles focused on pathophysiology (30%), followed by diagnosis (20%) and stroke management (15%). The highest number of participants included in the analysis was 739 and the highest number of stroke participants was 222. The identified challenges included the need for more infrastructure and under-utilization of available services. The Wellcome Trust has emerged as the primary funding agency for stroke research in Malawi.
Conclusion: The study found limited collaboration among local institutions in Malawi, with most research focused in Blantyre District. There is a critical need for increased interdisciplinary teamwork to boost nationwide research.

Microalgae are being recognized as the key contributor to sustainability in many sectors, starting from energy up to food industries. The microorganism has also been utilized as environmental remediator, capable of converting organic compounds into economically valuable biomass. To optimize the use of microalgae in these sectors, researchers have explored various approaches, of which is the use of bacteria. The interaction between bacteria and microalgae can potentially be harnessed, but its complexity requires extensive research. Herein, we present the bibliometric analysis on microalgal-bacterial interactions. The metadata of published literature was collected through Scopus database on August 4, 2023. The downloaded.csv file was uploaded to VOSViewer and biblioshiny for network visualization. We found that the research has gained a lot of attention from researchers since 2012 with an exponential increase of the publication number. The United States and China are leading the research with a strong collaboration. Based on the research sub-topic clusters, the interaction is mostly studied for wastewater treatment, biomass production, and algal bloom control. Updated reviews on this topic reveal that researchers are now focus on optimizing the efficacy of microalgae-bacteria system, investigating the modes of actions, and identifying challenges in its real-world implementation. The microalgal-bacterial interaction is a promising approach for microalgae utilization in wastewater treatment, biomass production, and algal bloom control.

The reason for existence of a scientific journal is to disseminate knowledge of science. The objective is a continuous improvement in the quality of what is published and an increase in the number of readers. In this sense, the impact factor is an indicator that helps us visualize the improvement in the quality of our journal. To improve this impact factor, indexing in the most used databases is very important.Farmacéuticos Comunitarios is indexed in several index journals but we were missing the most used ones. In this last year we have requested indexing in the most important ones, SCOPUS and Medline. In November we received SCOPUS approval and are close to getting it on Medline. In September we were approved by the editorial criteria and in December by the scientists. We only need the technical criteria to be able to appear in Medline and in its online version PubMed. We are working on it and it is very likely that within a year we will be indexed in PubMed.

Background The publication of scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals is a well-established method for disseminating knowledge and findings to a global audience. However, the publishing process is constantly evolving and encountering various obstacles that hinder progress. Despite a significant increase in the number of research projects undertaken, there are few studies evaluating the challenges faced by investigators in publishing their research. This study aims to identify the factors and elements that influence the publication process after the completion of research. Methods This study included 759 projects approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) from 2016 to 2021 at a tertiary care centre in South India. A list of these approved projects was analysed for overall output in terms of publication and completion. Investigators were contacted and interviewed using a validated, 15-question survey to identify various factors influencing scientific publications. Results A total of 759 projects approved by the IEC from 2016 to 2021 were analyzed. It was found that only 36.72% of studies were completed by faculty members, and the publication conversion rate was 34.24%. A single-point analysis showed a statistically significant lower conversion rate for resident articles (p = 0.032). The 15-point analysis detailed the factors influencing publication conversion, revealing that the majority of researchers publish based on academic and research interests (68.89% and 72.12%, respectively). Various deterrents to publication, such as study design, statistical analysis, journal selection, and knowledge about journal submission, were identified. Notably, 98.4% of researchers expressed a desire to publish more in the future, highlighting the importance of this study. Conclusion The study highlights areas that require attention to facilitate and augment research. It identifies the real gaps in the publication process and suggests points of intervention needed to enhance the research environment, increase publication rates, and establish demand-based research support units in the medical education sector.

In this paper, we looked at the collaboration publishing patterns for groups of Global South countries (Latin America, Africa, ASEAN, Asian, BRICS), as well as publishing parameters. We looked at financing and the relationships between these groups and the Global North. Data from 2002 to 2021 was collected from InCites ® (Web of Science, Clarivate Analytics) and SciVal® (Scopus Elsevier). The impact was lower for BRICS, while Latin America and Asean countries tended to have a higher Field Weighted Citation Impact. Good Health and well-being (SDG 3) dominates South-South Collaborations. Asian countries showed a higher percentage of Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG7), while Africa and Latin America had a higher rate of Zero Hunger (SDG1). Each region shows different production profiles, but collaboration with the Global North is necessary for all regions. Intra-regional shows a lower impact than inter-regional financing, calling attention to the increasing influence of China in all regions, except for Latin America. The data analysed can be used for orienting South-South scientific Collaboration programs, focusing on pre-existent synergies and on where policy changes and results can be maximised.

INTRODUCTION: Division Chiefs (DCs) and department leadership play an integral role within the service, and in the department as a whole. The goal of this study was to assess the demographics and academic characteristics of the leadership in orthopedic shoulder and elbow services across academic centers in the United States and comment on the diversity within these leadership positions.METHODS: Academic medical centers were identified using the FRIEDA database. DCs were identified using the hospitals' respective websites where data such as sex, race/ethnicity, academic rank, fellowship institution, and time since graduating fellowship. Scopus database was used to determine individual h-indices.
RESULTS: Of 198 academic programs identified, 49 were found to have a DC of the orthopedic shoulder and elbow division. An additional 26 programs were noted to have a shoulder and elbow division, but were not found to have a DC of the division. These DCs were mostly White (n=43, 87.8%), with only 6 identified DCs with a different ethnicity. Forty-five of the DCs (91.8%) were male and 4 were female (8.2%). The average time out of fellowship was 20.7 years and the average h-index was 18.9. More than 20% of the DCs trained at Columbia's Neer shoulder and elbow Fellowship. Six DCs were current or past president of ASES and 5 DCs completed the ASES traveling fellowship.
CONCLUSIONS: There is a paucity of available research on demographic and leadership characteristics in academic orthopedic shoulder and elbow. Shoulder and elbow DC had average h-index of 18.9 and 20% trained at one fellowship. There also opportunities for increased gender/racial/ethnic diversity among the leadership of shoulder and elbow divisions.

BACKGROUND: The patient-reported outcomes measurement information system (PROMIS) was developed by investigators funded by the National Institutes of Health as a standardized means of directly assessing the patients' perspectives across domains. PROMIS domains include physical function, pain, fatigue, emotional distress, and social health. Various studies have reported increased utilization of PROMIS in research articles in specific specialties; however, the extent to which PROMIS has been employed in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery remains unclear. The goal of the present study was to characterize the prevalence and trends of PROMIS within plastic and reconstructive surgery articles.METHODS: Literature search was conducted across multiple databases for PROMIS studies within plastic surgery literature. We identified 136 articles and the following data were extracted: author name, journal, impact factor, country of origin, year of publication, publication type, subspecialty, study size, and PROMIS measures used.
RESULTS: In this study, 136 studies met the inclusion criteria. There was an overall increasing trend in the number of PROMIS studies published. The most common subspecialties that used PROMIS measures were general reconstruction (n = 24), hand (n = 9), and burn (n = 5). The most used PROMIS measures were the pain interference (n = 26), pain intensity (n = 15), and depression (n = 13). A total of 24 journals included PROMIS studies with a mean impact factor of 3.73 (SD = 3.2). The most common country of origin was the United States (n = 42).
CONCLUSION: The data demonstrated an increasing use of PROMIS within plastic surgery across a wide variety of subspecialities and study designs. The characterization of these trends allows researchers and clinicians alike to gain a greater understanding of this powerful tool in measuring patient care.

Introduction: Tobacco companies conduct and fund research. They are not always interested in open-ended research. They promote their interests through public relations campaigns. It's a proven fact that they influence the scientific community by impairing scientific reputation, especially in the case of health-related research. Methods: To obtain a comprehensive picture of research and funding activities of the tobacco industry as well as studies about the tobacco industry, respective scientific articles were analyzed in terms of temporal aspects, research areas, networking, and funding sources using established and advanced bibliometric methods.
Results: We found the foci of publications with tobacco industry involvement or funding were mainly in chemistry, toxicology, pharmacology, and agricultural sciences. Health-related scopes occurred much less frequently. In contrast, health and medical sciences were the main focus of publications on the tobacco industry. The Chinese state-owned CNTC was the most research-involved tobacco company and often networked with Chinese academic institutions. Whereas, Western universities, on the other hand, collaborated with tobacco companies to a much lesser extent.
Conclusion: Conflicts of interest of researchers or academic institutions with the tobacco industry occur repeatedly. That is highly problematic and should not be ignored by the scientific community. The science and the public should be skeptical about tobacco industry-supported research.

The retraction of publications is a crucial aspect of scientific integrity; it aims to correct the literature and alert scholars and the general public by identifying and labelling articles that contain erroneous data, unreliable findings, or flawed conclusions. Identifying and characterizing retracted articles within the scientific literature is thus very important. The aims of this article were to characterize retracted articles in the ophthalmological literature. One hundred and fifty-one retracted articles published between 1966 and 2023 were retrieved. The number of retracted articles showed an upward trend from 2020 onwards. Ocular oncology (n = 37, 24.5 %) was the most frequently represented subspeciality in the retracted articles, despite retina and uveitis being the most published. The most frequent reason for retraction was fake data (n = 62, 38 %). The labelling of retracted articles on some websites was unsatisfactory, especially on the free-access illegal platform Sci-Hub. On the other hand, platforms such as Dimensions, Scite and Retraction Watch exhibit promising accuracy. Improving the labelling of retractions is needed to reduce the citation of articles after they have been retracted. Solutions to reach this goal are discussed in this article.

Physical inactivity can lead to frailty and negative health outcomes in middle-aged to older adults. Sedentary individuals have double the risk of death compared to those who engage in high levels of physical activity (PA). The advantages of practicing PA in older age are significant, with regular, moderate-intensity activity (150 min per week)being consistently linked with a decreased risk of chronic disease, cognitive decline, and mortality. Therefore, the study aimed to carry out a bibliometric review related to the terms "Physical activity," "Functional capacity" and "Aging" including all the documents published in the Web of Science Core Collection until 31st December 2023. The sample was made up of 231 studies related to the topic. The results reported that the first document was published in 1994. However, there was no continuity in the publication of the documents till 1998, which was the first year with at least one document published. Considering 1998 as the first year, it is observed an exponential growth of 77.4%, between the oldest (1997-2008) and contemporaneous studies (2008-2023), in which "Geriatric Gerontology" was the Web of Science category with the highest number of documents (n = 59). The journal "Experimental Gerontology" was associated with the largest number of published documents (n = 7), being indexed in Quartil 2. The years 2009 had the highest number of citations (n = 1811), with a total of 7 documents published and 2018 with the higher number of documents (n = 25). These results reported the importance of PA in elderly people, and how it influences the risk of falls, improving the balance and the functional capacity. Thus, it is important to carry out programmes to promote physical activity to this population and reduce the risk of falls and the presence of diseases.

BACKGROUND: Cyberbullying research has gained considerable attention among scholars due to the proliferation and diversification of the digital media platforms. Although cyberbullying research has a robust empirical nature, the research is more difficult to define and deserves close investigation. In response to the situation, we have examined topics, forms, context, media, predictive factors, outcomes, utilization of methodology, and research trends in cyberbullying research from 2014 to 2023.METHODS: This study analyzed 3,588 articles to investigate the trend and development of cyberbullying research using the Scopus academic databases.
RESULTS: 85.87% of research focused on cyberbullying as 'social issues'. 71.57% of articles focused on cyberbullying itself rather than specific forms of cyberbullying. 50.81% of articles focused on cyberbullying in middle/high school contexts. Most research did not state any predictive factors (39.83%) or outcomes (60.17%) suggested. The predominant research method used in cyberbullying research was via surveys (30.69%), while the second phase of research dominated the cyberbullying research agenda (victims and bullies in cyberbullying).
CONCLUSIONS: Although Cyberbullying research has increased, broadened, and diversified over time, it still focuses primarily on the first phase of the research agenda of cyberbullying issues. The findings of this study provides a framework for new insights for future cyberbullying research and practices by suggesting exploration to different mechanisms of cyberbullying such as: victims/bullies, effects, and improvement of cyberbullying beyond the issues of cyberbullying itself.

Background: Routinely collected electronic healthcare records (EHRs) document many details of a person's health, including demographics, preventive services, symptoms, tests, disease diagnoses and prescriptions. Although not collected for research purposes, these data provide a wealth of information which can be incorporated into epidemiological investigations, and records can be analysed to understand a range of important health questions. We aimed to understand the use of routinely collected health data in epidemiological studies relating to three of the most common chronic respiratory conditions, namely: asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and interstitial lung disease (ILD). We also characterised studies using EHR data to investigate respiratory diseases more generally, relative to cardiovascular disease and COVID-19, to understand trends in the use of these data. Methods: We conducted a search of the Scopus database, to identify original research articles (irrespective of date) which used data from one of the following most frequently used UK EHR databases: Clinical Practice Research Datalink (including General Practice Research Database (CPRD's predecessor)), The Health Improvement Network and QResearch, defined through the presence of keywords. These databases were selected as they had been previously included in the works of Vezyridis and Timmons.
Findings: A total of 716 manuscripts were included in the analysis of the three chronic respiratory conditions. The majority investigated either asthma or COPD, whilst only 28 manuscripts investigated ILD. The number of publications has increased for respiratory conditions over the past 10 years (888% increase from 2000 to 2022) but not as much as for cardiovascular diseases (1105%). These data have been used to investigate comorbidities, off-target effects of medication, as well as assessing disease incidence and prevalence. Most papers published across all three domains were in journals with an impact factor less than 10.

Scientific history has many examples of profound statements that are later found to be unsubstantiated. The consequences of such misinformation can be dire. In the present article, we present a case where an unevidenced estimate of global lichen coverage proliferated through both scientific literature and popular media. We traced this estimate to a non-peer-reviewed publication from 1987. We found 76 academic articles (collectively cited 4125 times) and 13 other academic documents citing the statistic, citation chains without source attribution, and instances where the number or context was changed. We also found the statistic 37 times in popular media, which is especially concerning, given that these media communicate science to the broader public. We demonstrate how an unevidenced statement can spread, change through time, and ultimately be repeated without demand for evidence. We hope this case unplugs the telephone and provides a cautionary tale for researchers to ensure critical evaluation of citation and communication practices.

BACKGROUND: The study examines the prevalence of plagiarism in hijacked journals, a category of problematic journals that have proliferated over the past decade.METHODS: A quasi-random sample of 936 papers published in 58 hijacked journals that provided free access to their archive as of June 2021 was selected for the analysis. The study utilizes Urkund (Ouriginal) software and manual verification to investigate plagiarism and finds a significant prevalence of plagiarism in hijacked journals.
RESULTS: Out of the analyzed sample papers, 618 (66%) were found to contain instances of plagiarism, and 28% of papers from the sample (n = 259) displayed text similarities of 25% or more. The analysis reveals that a majority of authors originate from developing and ex-Soviet countries, with limited affiliation ties to developed countries and scarce international cooperation in papers submitted to hijacked journals. The absence of rigorous publication requirements, peer review processes, and plagiarism checks in hijacked journals creates an environment where authors can publish texts with a significant amount of plagiarism.
CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest a tendency for fraudulent journals to attract authors who do not uphold scientific integrity principles. The legitimization of papers from hijacked journals in bibliographic databases, along with their citation, poses significant challenges to scientific integrity.
